Its right in line with their previous birthday beer, the chocolate ale that came out a couple of years. Nothing really spectacular about but I found myself drinking them. Everything shiner does is watered down and I understand their is a whole niche out there that want a better beer than your regular bud/miller lagers but I find it hard to pay a 'premium' price for shiners. Real Ale Coffee Porter FTW when looking for an easy drinking porter. Been drinking a lot of Founders lately.
It's an actual ancient recipe that dogfish found and reproduced for bottling. Really highly regarded beer.
These guys grow wild all over the place (and in the garden with help and care)...have you ever made proper Hill Country "Mustang Wine"?
I havent personally. I had a friend that did. Sweet as hell and not very good IMO. He always had 5 carboys full of the stuff.
I gotta say I love Belgian tripels. I recently had Devils backbone and golden monkey and they were both really good .
Got a sixer of 11 Below 7 Iron for the Super Bowl, too malty for me, but it is one of the last houston area breweries I have not been to so I have to go and try all their stuff.
I like their Oso Bueno for an easy drinker. Lame Duck is good, too. I've been enjoying some Lagunitas Little Sumpin lately.
Im usually just happy with some Jim Beam or some Jameson. I don't just drink beer like I used to. I have to actually crave it before I go buy some. My go to is actually Boston Lager and Santos.
Groupon sometimes has beer tours and Jester King is one of the destinations. Always enjoy drinking there.
