But the question is whether these are isolated incidents that are independent of Trump/Bannon, or is there a trend that can actually be linked to their rhetoric? There is evidence that "hate incidents" spiked in the days after the election, and gradually subsided in the weeks after. This suggests that there is some connection to this political environment that is increasingly becoming more and more hostile towards foreigners. http://wlrn.org/post/hate-incidents-spike-florida-and-across-us-after-election
Hard to tell with any single incident. There are signs already, but significant trend might not be known for at least a year if not more. I do expect it to get worse, before getting better.
"“Engineering schools,” Bannon said, “are all full of people from South Asia, and East Asia. . . . They’ve come in here to take these jobs.” Meanwhile, Bannon said, American students “can’t get engineering degrees; they can’t get into these graduate schools because they are all foreign students. When they come out, they can’t get a job.” Bannon asked repeatedly, “Don’t we have a problem with legal immigration?” “Twenty percent of this country is immigrants. Is that not the beating heart of this problem?” he said, meaning the problem of native-born Americans being unable to find jobs and rising wages." Not only does he directly legal immigration is a bigger problem than illegal immigration, he then incites violence against Asians by blaming them for the "native born" Americans that are not getting jobs. Blaming people that have legally immigrated to our country, a nation of immigrants. Despicable. Worse, he is advising on, if not writing our immigration policy. American should be ashamed...
The link was provided above by NewRoxFan. I said in my post that those statements from Bannon probably weren't linked to the attack, but they are in line with his thinking.
Trump is terrible for the country in my opinion. But, the nation became the most divided I have seen since the sixties while Obama was President.
This is correct, but the blame is mis-placed. Obama is a saint compared to Trump. The division isn't much of what Obama said or even what he does, but the absolutely true rage created by faux and lies and alt facts from nutty people - Trump included with his birther conspiracy. The same force that eventually elected Trump. What is pretty clear now is those seeds were always there, but Obama is what cause them to bloom like weed on steroid. Unfortunately, the effect is more than those with these seeds - a large part of the general public get pulled into the division and take sides and another large part isn't informed enough to understand what is even going on.
these libidiots can't help themselves it's pathetically sad. they truly believe that not a single hate crime committed by whites ever occurred until Trump took office. morons.
You're right because slavery just happened over the past 10 days...along with the millions of others incidents. Hate crimes are only 2 weeks old according to liberals. OR, you might be the moran here.
