We're a great regular season team, but are already seeing the signs.....

Our lack of quality size inside allows teams to beat up on us ....controlling the boards/scoring...letting mediocre squads hang around.
We crank things up when we need to and get by for now.

I've started to believe our Weird Science will work, even in the playoffs when things slow down. But it is IMPERATIVE that we address this situation pronto.

We needed another good big to fit in the rotation before CC went down. Now, the weakness, has become glaringly apparent.

So, let's get CC healthy, grab another biggun, and go win an NBA title.

    Trade Brewer/KJ for Koufus.

    Cut Brown and sign Chalmers/Cole.

    Make a call about Thabo.

    = Very scary team

I think if both Nene and Capela are healthy, we will be fine. We were okay when Nene was in there, but Harrell had problems especially when OKC had both their 7 footers in the game. We still of would have abused them if we didn't run out of gas in the 4th quarter. Both those guys had a hard time covering us when we were running around. We just started walking the ball up in the 4th because Harden and Gordon got tired.

We need a center who can rebound. We don't even need another star.

We can worry about getting one of them in the offseason.

Agree, our defense (including rebounding) needs to improve a fair amount if we want a chance to win it all. Def need a guy who rebounds well, maybe even after Capela gets back.

The funny thing is kanter would play really well in our system.

Okc and Russ don't know what there doing. They have a lot more talent on that team than they think. We're seeing first hand why KD left.

Okc made ther push with kanter and olidipo balling and Russ on the bench. Russ came back and ended the game shooing 2-12.

I'm sorry you can look at the numbers but that guy is overrated you can't win with him as your best player.

I think that's an overreaction. Yes, it's clearly a problem with Capela out. But when he's back? Capela looks like he's easy to beat for rebounds, but in actuality the stats would say he's a better rebounder than Koufos, or a number of other theoretical good rebounders like Favors, Cousins, Anthony Davis, Biyombo, Kanter, Pachulia, etc, even with Harden taking away a lot of his rebound opportunities.

We are winning, and I don't think we should spend depth to address a problem that will mitigate itself when healthy. Now if the price was actually just Brewer and garbage, then sure - but I don't think that gets you Koufos.

Montrezl and Nene need to work on their rebounding though, they're almost getting beat by Bev in rebound rate.

In fairness - Harrell shouldn't be our only big on the floor if other teams are running multiple bigs out there. He's been great but he's an undersized/energy guy pf. Running a small lineup out there w montrezl as your only big should be situational and although dantoni has done a masterful job this year; okc got back in the game not by shooting but by the rebounding the Turkish hammer. Nene should've probably come in a bit earlier. But hey; all's well that ends well.

I disagree. Even with Capela healthy the lack of depth on the frontcourt was already a problem. It was a concern coming into the season, it was a nuisance during the season when Capela was playing well, it is an apparent problem now that Capela's out, etc.

For a team that shoots 40 3s a night you can never have too many quality big men that can rebound and defend.

There leverages in the game. And I agree with Plowman, while we are very good right now in most of those aspects, we still have to adress the rebounding. It was unbelievable and worying to see how well we play with Trez on the offensive side of the ball (4Q), but how overmatched he looked against Kanter rebounding.

Also, keep in mind we faced one of the biggest teams in the league last night.

Aaaand I believe that, while the rebounding helped them get back, it was more about the specific line up they were playing. They had for a moment Kanter - Abrines - Grant - Robertson - Oladipo. My point is that defensively we have more problems when we donĀ“t have matchups to exploit and the rival is going in an all switch defense. Add that to what we already know about Utah and Memphis and how their Centers make it tough on us.

Western conference really is a bloodbath

Ariza's inability to create his own shot, miss defended layups, overrated defense and inept 3pt shooting needs to be addressed.
He is a second unit player at best. And please don't make the excuse of him winning a championship a decade ago.

the playoffs now consist of a whole lot more small ball now especially at the end of games. The depth of bigs is more crucial during the regular season but we definitely do need CC back as far as playoffs go.

It's a little premature to look at one game, one team and conclude we have a problem. OKC is the 2nd best rebounding team in the whole league. In terms of playoff teams in the west, they are clearly the highest ranked while GS second and we are a very close third.

In terms of length, Kanter is only 6 inches taller than Harrell so that was not the problem. He is just a highly skilled low post player and also has a reputation of being a very good offensive rebounder. Some players just have a good sense for where the ball is going (Dekker is one) . Everybody knows Rodman and Faried are good at this too even though they are not very tall but teams still have a difficult time getting them off the boards.

Harrell was doing a good job of trying to box out but sometimes, the ball just bounced in their favor. If there was anybody to blame for our rebounding deficiency last night, it was the Beard. Robertson got 5 offensive rebounds and in each instance, James was nowhere to be seen.

    You can win.

He needs to learn how to pass more if his usage is that high.
