overall if healthy, yeah.....but depending on matchups.....asik is a much better interior presence and rebounder.......cunningham a more reliable shooter for spacing......ajinca a better banger in the paint.......and who knows what dmo's game is like now after being out so long
None of those guys fits into a modern NBA though......if he signed there without any guarantee of playing time, then he and his agent are even bigger morons than I already think.....they should have taken the QO stayed healthy and he would be looking at a Ryan Anderson contract next season. DD
I don't mind him going to NOLA. I wish he would have stayed a Rocket, but oh well. His agent is a total moron. At least he didn't go to the Warriors, Spurs, Clippers or Thunder.
Haha you cannot make this up! So he felt disrespected by a few million offer, yet takes around 600-800k? Good luck and good riddance.
i bolded the key line in your reply. stupid people's startling ability to outdo even themselves should never be discounted
The simplest answer is that the Rockets asked the league to get involved once they saw how bad DMO's back was.
That might be true, that they asked that he be allowed to accept the Brooklyn offer, but if that is the CASE, it would have come out - as Morey and the Rockets would not let something that makes them look good not slip out. DD
I don't see your logic. I think the Rockets were being classy by not saying anything - they didn't want to ruin his career anymore then they had to. By handling it this way, people won't assume Dmo is damaged good. The reality is that Dmo is damaged goods. his NBA career is effectively over. And the league knows it, and his agent knew it. He should have taken the QO when he had the chance.
If he can pick hard and roll, he'd fit in to start to halves. 15-20 minutes a game sure. He'd be a less athletic, way better defensively and rebounding version of Capela. That's all we really need for now.
Morey did probably lie to him, but get over it. Without Morey, Asik would've never been a starter on a legit team. Business is business, we had a chance to get Dwert at the time and we did so. Integrate or gtfo. Now, times have changed. He's clearly losing his starter spot in New Orleans, he's been playing like ****, team is ****, if he can't get over that then sure no way we trade for him.
I practice employment law for a living. And no, I'm still not buying the "common contractual practice" theory.
According to The Vertical's Shams Charania, Motiejunas will sign a one-year, $1.5 million veteran's-minimum deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. As he did with the Rockets, Motiejunas will provide New Orleans an interior presence on both ends of the court. He is a solid defender and strong post player. The Pelicans can play him alongside Anthony Davis instead of Alexis Ajinca and/or the always disappointing Omer Asik.
They only way you can turn this turd into a sandwich is if he gets to start for the pelicans. Gentry is a disciple of MDA so maybe he can put him in a position to succeed.
Man, I do feel sorry for DMo. He's a good guy, and good guys deserve better luck than what he's had. Sure he picked a bad agent and made bad decisions. But, he's still a good guy and didn't deserve the back injury. In today's NBA, players that can't do half of what DMo can do make millions, and DMo plays for the minimum. Seems wrong. Maybe he'll show enough over the next few months that there will be interest in him this next summer. Or, maybe Yao can hire him to play in China.
