Incredibly inconsistent. Terrible shooter. Bust was probably the wrong word to use but I feel like he's definitely not the right player to be the point in Orlando and they might as well get picks in return to find someone with higher potential. To me Payton won't ever be able to live up to what he was supposed to be. Nothing more than a poor mans Rondo imo.
I agree, Payton does indeed need a change in scenery. The Spurs need to unload Danny Greens contract and upgrade over Tony Parker. Low-key moves for them would include trading for McLemore to play the backup 2 and let Simmons start, and we all know what the Spurs would do to Payton... he has shown flashes of being a top-tier assist man in the NBA.
Spurs are a perfect fit for Payton. His style of play is hard to fit into most systems but Pop finds a way to get everyone's style to work.
And they know it themselves aswell. Also... how do you feel about Ed Davis? He'd give us good depth, would likely be cheap to obtain and he'd fill a much needed hole till Capela gets back.
Ryno plus pick or something for Millsap around the deadline Resign Millsap and sign Lowry in the offseason Lowry/Bev Harden/Gordon Ariza/Dekker/Kyle Millsap/Trez Capela/Nene/Nanu Is this feasible cap-wise? Idk but it sure looks good.
I don't th idk if Lowry would want to leave his situation. He seems in a pretty good situation in the east. Would love another playmaker but a cheaper one would probably be better.
I liked Ed Davis a few years ago but I haven't watched him much lately to be able to comment on his progress. Someone who's surprised me this year is DeAndre Liggins. Has played well and so far in this game against the warriors, he hasn't let curry out his sight. I know Cleveland had their eyes on Ariza (still do), so if a blockbuster trade occurs where we get a DMC type of player, I wouldn't mind packaging Ariza to Cleveland for Liggins and something else
Only player I'd want from Orlando is Aaron Gordon, maybe Sergio Hejonza. Don't want Cousins, he will demand post touches and would be bad fit in MDA system.
So Noel-AGordon- Hezonja to Rockets, Cousins-Covington-Lawson to Orlando, Ibaka-Brewer-Ennis rights to Gentile to Sacramento, KJ-Dekker, rights to Llull, Orlando 2nd and Rockets 1st to Philly. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine Orlando gets the best center in league, Sac adds former DPOY/scoring 4 to play alongside Cauley-Stein and moving Gay to sixth man, Philly receives young scoring 3 and picks for a player that they could not sign next season while eliminating logjam at 5.
From the perspective of clearing cap space for the 2017 offseason, what do you guys make of these moves? HOU OUT: Ariza + Brewer SIXERS OUT: (2 of these 3) Stauskas/Thompson/Covington HOU OUT: Ariza + Brewer NETS OUT: Bogjanovic + Foye/Harris HOU OUT: Ariza + Brewer + KJ + Sweetener 2nd round draft pick SAC OUT: Gay + McLemore + Casspi Ariza is a key cog defensively and a sharpshooter but if we have the chance to go for Hayward or Gallinari or whomever - do we dump his and Brewers contract? They go to young or chaotic teams in need of vet leadership to stabilize or teach. The Rockets in return get expiring deals and wings of varying talent to plug in and see if they can mesh. Not to mention doing so could allow us approximately $25 million in cap space...I think.
Houston out: brewer/kj/2nd Houston in: Holmes/stauskas Lakers out: clarkson/robinson Lakers in: noel/kj Philly out: noel/holmes/stauskas Philly in: Clarkson/brewer/robinson/2nd
No potential starters for Houston in this trade, rather just sign Smoove and Jimmer instead. Keep assets for another trade.
Sign White Curry that the Spurs just released. Lowkey signing for our bench. Troy Daniels with drive game
