It's a 1 year $9 million deal until March. That gives you 3 months to evaluate whether DMo is worth that second year.

If you pick up the 2nd year, you risk DMo getting injured between March and June (the offseason), when DMo can be dealt. The other risk is that DMo has trade veto power for a year, but since he's already signed with another team, i think he would work with us.

As others have pointed out, it's as if Morey wrote his contract himself, though he probably would've put the guarantee date for the 2nd year in July. Still...good deal.

If they do, it'll be by tonight. It makes no sense for them to match later than tonight. That way he can get in some practice and be ready to go Monday.
