The Houston Cougars are no more or less likely to keep Herman than last week or a month from now. If Herman wants to leave there will be sufficient high level openings with or without UT being added to the mix. If anything costs UH keeping Herman, it would be missing out on joining the Big XII. If he leaves it won't be primarily over money.

Herman is gone. The question for UH is do you hire Applewhite or Orlando as Head Coach? Or do you go outside?
I'll take it. I mean, it really sucks that they lost 2 infinitely winnable games because with those, they are in the college football playoffs this year, but it happens. At least they are still ranked.
Ranked is good. Jumping a solid 7 spots. That's no small feat. And with many ranked teams facing stiff competition in their championships maybe they will drop and suffer before the bowl games. No Keenum this weekend is bad. But think he has at least secured a paycheck for a few seasons as a credible backup.
They're undefeated in conference play and their two losses are much better losses. I guess I don't mind so much that they're ranked higher.
Guys honestly if you had to put a percentage of herman staying what would it be? Im going with 30%. The more I think about it the more I begin to think hes gone. Next year our out of conference games are vs Tech, Arizona, and Rice. If he couldn't do it this year with games against two top 5 teams he must be thinking how the hell will I do it next year against a bunch of bad programs. UT plays USC, and then of course their conference. How as a coach who lives for big games could you pass that option up, I wish I could see it but I can't.
I don't think its about the money for Herman, I honestly don't. I really think its the big games and glory he can get at a school like UT if he performs well. Money won't be the factor here as if it was the only thing I know he would stay.
If Colorado had victories over Oklahoma and Louisville they'd be in the top 4 it seems. That SMU loss was so so bad. If we're losing Herman then I'm glad the last home game was that Louisville game because I've never been to a game that electric at TDECU or Robertson.
Those 2 losses were understandable. Navy is very underrated and SMU the injuries fatigue and coach openings talk caught up with them. Herman said it best in the post game that they don't have the blue chip depth yet to overcome key starters missing.
