I thought I read HBO gave him a vote of confidence... oh well.. I don't think his brand of entertainment fits TV; He needs to move all his stuff online. I miss grantland's online content.
ESPNer leaves ESPN & does poorly/fades away? No way!? Maybe WEEI or NESN or CSNNE can give him a show. A Bawstin show for the Bawstin people!
Honestly, the only thing Simmons ever did that I enjoyed was his weekly podcast/you tube vids with Jalen. I won't miss him that much.
One more for missing Grantland. And I'm no Juliet Litman fan, but I really miss her random podcasts with Jacoby.
The annual NBA preview with Jalen and Bill was pretty awesome and comprehensive. I really enjoyed their random reality TV podcast.
He was popular because you could watch YouTube clips and download his podcasts. Nobody wants to watch him on TV AND have to pay extra for it.
His monologues on the show were cringe worthy. His interviews were lackluster. His jokes awkward. HBO needs another sports program besides Real Sports (which is phenomenal).
Yeah the show sucked. I think I watched the first 4 or 5 before cancelling all recording of it. Just not good at all. He'll never be good in that type of setting.
He's still with them, and has already created more content then Jon Stewart with the ringer for their eventual HBO now platform. I'm hoping for HBOs version of 30 for 30
I can't comment intelligently because I've never seen the show, but that's never stopped a white guy on the internet before ... I'm confused by this. It didn't look as if the show cost a ton to produce, so if you're already paying that guy all those millions contractually, why not get a TV show out of it? Is the replacement's (expected) higher ratings going to be worth (what I'd presume to be) the expected uptick in production and payroll cost?
