This is what YOU are hoping. Players (the ones with pride or money on the line at least) always think they are ready before they are. They always want to come back too soon. Remember T-Mac and his knee? Remember AB and his ankle? Remember JJ Watt and HIS back? Point is, a player will at least come back and try to play. It happens all the time. The fact that he played in the playoffs does not mean a damn thing about how healed up his back is.

Yes but 1 they have to have the cap cash. 2 they have to want to spend it (a lot of teams under the cap are running a business instead of running a contender). 3 they have to have little regard that this is the same player that failed a physical 8 months ago because of back issues.

Those same teams that fit that criteria won't throw too much more because even in today's world, you don't want to be stuck with a 10 million suit..

Stein is mentioning the Nov 23rd date as an "unofficial" date for him to sign with the Rockets. Bird signings cannot be traded until after Dec 15th or until after three months of the signing (whichever comes later). So in this case, the three month rule rules.

If he signs an offer sheet and it is matched, then that's a different rule. Nov 23rd doesn't matter then. It could be today. We cannot trade him for a year without his consent, and not to the team who he signed the offer sheet with, at all during that year.

    Coon CBA FAQ #44
"If a team matches an offer sheet and retains its free agent, then for one year they cannot trade him without his consent, and during that year cannot trade him at all to the team that signed him to the offer sheet."

Why can't you count on him? The one thing you can always count on is hustle. Even in the ugly games that you just have to grind out, hustle will always be there. Also to debunk your myth Trez wrecked GSW last year.

That said if DMo signs, he signs. A healthy DMo (which is still a question) is valuable.

What are YOU talking about? I'm talking about his physical performance, not the quality of his play. He looked completely fine physically during the playoffs which were half a year ago. He hasn't been straining his back since then. He should be 100% by now. Obviously, that's just an educated guess, but it's the one that makes the most sense since there is nothing that would indicate that he is having any issues still.

sigh,,,it's finally there, or my googling skilz are going on me.

Yeah, for the life of me, I couldn't find that page a few days ago, or it wasn't listing the Trade Deadline. Plus, found sites that were consistently listing the key dates the same but no trade deadline (as if they all scraped the same source).

I assume also why ppl were asking Coon as little as a few days ago. He was just saying essentially, "I don't know, it's defined as 17th Thursday, whenever that is."

Kind of like priming the pump to get some flow, so to speak. Remains to be seen if it will be a stream or a dribble.

This is where we disagree. I thought he still looked hesitant most of the time and got pushed around a lot more easily. Also, just because he seems fine, doesn't mean his back can't flare up at any moment ala Parsons, Howard, and T-Mac, only he's a lot less talented. We can agree to disagree though. Personally, until he proves otherwise with sufficient sample size, I will remain cautious myself.

At this point I really don't think he's going to contribute as much as we'd like as compared to his 2014-15 performance, so I really hope another team takes the bait and offers him a 2+1 deal that we "won't match". It's time to move on from DMo.

He will contribute a LOT this is exactly the offense that he will thrive in....with his speed he will get 6 points a game on breakaways alone...
