Unfortunately, all the good guys seem to be overworked. The main problem is that Chapman is still on the roster... and now he's up on the team. Hinch has to use what he has available... he probably knows that Chapman is an overall liability, but he's also trying to get through a rough stretch with guys who are overall tired or on the verge of injury. I guess Luhnow has been unable to acquire an additional lefty, either via trade or through the system... and Chapman has somehow survived over the last year +, despite being pretty awful at the MLB level, and quite mediocre at the minor league level.
Yes, this is what happens when your starters consistently turn it over to the bullpen before the sixth inning. And it may get worse over the weekend. Really need to get a win today, because it will be tough to get even one game from the Cubs. Lester, Lackey and Arrieta pitching this weekend for the Cubs. Yikes.
why not use pat who has been better than sipp at pitching to the all mighty left handed batter. It was a bo porter like blunder no way around it. for such a crucial spot that should have been treated like one. 1 out, I trust the side armed freak more than chapman. If it backfires with neshek, then that's baseball. I'm wanting a win today, hope we do but yesterday was the one that got away. If paulino can make it past five innings that would be more than our starters have given us.
Paulino's velocity a little disappointing. Just glad he got through that inning though, he might settle now. Looked nervous, throwing the curveball all over the place
I thought I read he threw harder, kinda surprised with his velocity too. Not sure if he has a tired arm too :\
ROOT totally trolling AJ Reed by showing his "hot" zones on that graphic (spoiler alert: they are all blue except one tiny box on the inside). There you go Reed.
260 lbs reed beats that cleanly. still think he got robbed not enough evidence to overturn that call.
It's kind of a miracle that the Stros are still even in this race, with the lack of consistent starting pitching.
This kid may be tipping his curveball. Haven't seen a bad swing at one yet, nor even a checkswing at his good hooks in the dirt until this last pitch to ramirez
