Literally the only person that could make Stephen A Smith look smart was Bayless. Putting anyone up against SAS makes him the dumb one in the conversation. Only Ryan Lochte might be on that level.

I've always respected Troy Aikman as an analyst, and this only furthers that. The fact that Bayless continues to cash checks even though he's been eviscerated for his bull****, hot garbage, idiotic takes about a million times is ridiculous. Network executives have to be up there with politicians as the smarmiest, most delusional group of people on the planet.

Or they know he is a lightning rod that draws viewers and their job is to attract viewers and make money, how else do you explain Stephan A and Skip?

Skip's new show is a carbon copy of First Take, right down to the host who looks like a poor man's Molly Qerim. I'll probably alternate between the two shows based on the topics that I want to hear about.

People watch dumpster fires. Skip is a shock jock who just happens to be on TV. People watch because they enjoy being contrarian as well, or to watch because they hate him.

I'll never understand this. Idiots peddling predictable, garbage hot-takes is somehow drawing viewers - a lot of viewers. I just don't understand how.

It's like a masculine version of watching the Kardashians.

They make viewers feel better even though they seem angry all-the-time while working at a dream job...paid lots, center of attention, live in the world of sports, no grueling practices whatsoever.

Just curious, but why would you want to watch either? Neither have journalistic sports integrity.

Never thought about it that way but yes, you're exactly right.

because it's entertaining. I can watch highlights and read about breaking news online. When I am watching a talkshow I want opinions and takes. Why do you post on a rockets forum? There are idiots with stupid takes on here every day but that's part of what makes it fun. Additionally I don't have time to follow other sports teams except my own, so when they discuss other teams I at least get to know what's going on with them, in an entertaining format.

I won't be surprised if Mia Khalifa (Pornstar) is hired by Fox.

Fair enough. I guess it's like The View for sports. I think most of their conversations end up being shouting matches of ridiculous takes, but I could see how that's entertaining.

If you watch his new show on Fox please slap yourself repeatedly until you decide to not watch.

I actually like watching First Take now because MaxK is too smart for SAS and ESPN overall. The dude is a logical pragmatic genius and that's how my brain works. He speaks my language.

Why do people buy "The National Enquirer" or watch TMZ? There's a lot of idiots out there.

When do you have time to watch these, though? Do you work from home and get extended breaks during the morning?

I work from home but don't have the TV on. When I get a day off on a weekday the last thing I'd want to do is spend it in front of a TV, much less one showing two people talking about sports.

I used to watch a lot more when I was in college. I rarely watch nowadays but still care about what happens. I may watch replays on YouTube after they air if there's topics that I am interested in.

Here's the old man in me going off, old 36-year old Kelly chiming in ...

I was flipping around midday a couple of weeks ago to make sure I Tivo'd a baseball game, and noticed the sad lack of junk to gobble up in comparison to what was around when I was in college. NBA TV is still showing classic games, but those were around in 2000-01 on that channel (if you had it). Comedy Central used to show unending classic SNL and Kids in the Hall, now it's just South Park eps from a year ago.

Yep, as a college student with a lot of downtime- we usually end up putting on old movie reruns on HBO or comedy central if we're just chilling and want background noise. It sucks when you're hungover and have nothing on
