I feel like the Astros pitching philosophy is too heavily based on pitch to contact with having decent/good fielders shifted or in right position to make the play. Over a full season that may be effective, but solely against the subset of playoff teams with good hitters or contact hitters, we tend to get beat. You do need some of that style on a winning team, but you need to balance it with pitchers with power with swing-and-miss repertoire. We just don't have that balance.
Need to dust Beltran he just looks to damn comfortable at the plate like he's sitting on a stool at the plate. And here it goes!
The core of our lineup will never be as cheap and good as it currently is; taking advantage of this 3-4 year window is necessary. The price for pitching will be absurd, but we're wasting away our precious window if we stand idle. We must acquire TOR arms this offseason. A handful of 3s an 4s is realistically what we have. LMJ has potential to be an elite 2, but has yet to show he can handle the load. Objectively speaking, Kuechel seems to be more of a 2 at best. Greinke and his gruesome contract may be the most moveable 1, and I hesitate to say we should acquire him, but I really hope we don't waste the affordable/yotuhful years of Jose/Correa/Bregman/Springer and whatever Yuli has left. Would be a damn shame.
