Still looking for your suggestion to take him out after 7... Regardless. And you're seriously going to put up ERA stats that reek of sample size issues? How many games has Keuchel pitched into th e8th this year? If he gives up a run in less than a handful, it's going to be a bad ERA. OPS stats third time through the lineup far more telling.
I f'ing hate home plate umpires feeling like they need to have an impact on the game one way or the other. Just call it correctly.
Bad night by the offense so far and bad effort there by Correa. Someone needs to be barking at him in the dugout for that.
Pretty sure it was just a fine, especially the first instance. Regardless, it would have been hard for me to have not gone out there...not saying it's the smart thing to do though.
No, they're going to come down with the hammer now. Umps are protected and aren't going to tolerate more abuse thanks to modern technology. But that would merely suggest that they now they can be replaced... If I were them, I'd move towards a hybrid solution pro-actively.
It's been nearly a month since the Astros have lost ground to the Rangers. Every Astros loss has been accompanied by a Rangers loss in this span.
Correa needs to focus on getting some quality at bats. It's almost 3/4 of the season and his stats are screaming OVERRATED!!!!
So the only possible way I can be right is only by suggesting the move before it happens? Keuchel has pitched in the 8th inning 3 times. And he's given up runs in each of them. I really don't have to be the one to suggest that Keuchel doesn't pitch in the 8th inning of a tie game.
Yep. Look, it's always obvious that any pitcher is going to have worse cumulative numbers later in games... Even HOF pitchers suffer this effect. Still doesn't mean you just robotically manage every game based on a non-existent threat or just because.
