Okafor’s string of tweets apparently comes in response to this recent item from Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier-Times, that irked Okafor: As for Jahlil Okafor and [Nerlens] Noel still being on the roster, Colangelo clearly didn’t get what he perceived as fair value in trade talks prior to, on and since draft night. An NBA source said Colangelo “tried like hell to trade Okafor.” As a result, Okafor is “upset and his people are upset.” Colangelo and the Sixers then turned their attention to Noel, but nothing happened there, either. What in the world would it take to get Okafor?!! He's better than any big we currently have on the roster-- and oh yeah, he's 20! Sixers have a log jam with Simmons, Embiid, Noel and Okafor. I think Okafor would be a great fit here and could grow as a player in H-Town. He is 7ft 260 big with the footwork of #34. (yeah I said it). Why hasn't Morey offered Ariza and whoever else it would take??
How do you know Morey hasn't offered anything? Just because it's not reported or insiders arent mentioning it hear doesn't mean it's not happening.
Just coz they wanted to trade him doesnt' mean they would take anything back for him. Especially an old 31 y.o wing that doesn't fit at all with their core. Now if the Rockets had a young up and comer pg or a high pick then sure.
They better trade them before the season starts because with that logjam their mins will get cut and thus cut their value
He's been compared to one of the best bigs to ever play, Tim Duncan. And Okafor's stats were better than Tim's. Okafor 17.5 ppg 7 rebs Tim 8.5 ppg 7.3 rebs
It doesn't feel like we have enough to offer because of where Philly is. They don't need guys like Bev, Ariza and Beasley. All we have to offer that they would want is Dekker and future picks. But maybe something can we worked out 3-ways
My apologies, Tim's rookie year stats were better than Okafor's. Tim 21.5 Okafor 17.5 However, Duncan played 39 mins per game while, Okafor played 34 mins per game
Duncan was also a good passer and defensive superstar, while Okafor is terrible defensively. The comparisons between the two basically boil down to their refined post game entering the league. Duncan had a great all-around game to go with it, Okafor doesn't.
I would MOST definitely offer Dekker and picks!! Okafor has the ability to be a cornerstone piece next to Harden. He brings everything we wanted out of Howard.
I know we have Capela and Nene BUT Morey has to explore Okafor. Philly is going to trade one of their centers and he is still on his Rookie deal.
Hold up Yao!! LOL....Duncan a Defensive SUPERSTAR?? Duncan was a very good player, he was good at a lot of things but Defensive Superstar...NO! When you say Defensive Superstar, I think of Dream and Howard not Duncan.
No... Last season Duncan had the highest defensive rating at the rim or something like that. Duncan has been consistently better than Howard for seasons at a time. Howard doesn't have the b-ball IQ to remotely compete.
Especially since Morey is notorious for always being in touch with other GMs, kicking the tires on possible trades. He's known as one of the more active GMs over the last decade. <BR>
