If Chris Bosh retires because of his medical condition, what are the salary cap ramifications on the Miami Heat? Is Bosh's cap number on the books for the duration of his contract? Or does it come off or taper?
it stated earlier that in his situation , he needed at least 3 month to re-evaluate, now that he is ruled out for the season , he might need another extended period to use different blood thinner and test how his body responds. i hope his physician would be using warfarin instead of those new crap-shoot like rivaroxaban or dabigatran
He comes off the books for both salary cap and luxury tax purposes, but I believe the Heat still maintain his Bird rights in case he un-retires. If I remember correctly, he needed to be out for at least 10 months for this case to apply, which is why some people thought the Heat were being sketchy with this whole playoff scenario. If he played in 1 game, that 10 month clock would have to re-start.
makes sense , i would say 6 months from now , his chances would be above 50-75% to be cleared or to reach a final verdict on his health status
The key with that 10 month clock is that it started in Feb, so he would still be on the books for this summer free agency which is big in hampering the Heat's moves (Durant).
James R. Harrison @TheGrandstandUS REPORTS: The Miami Heat may request that Chris Bosh medically retire from the NBA due to vein thrombosis at the age of 32. #NBA #Heat 7:10 PM - 16 May 2016
Hah! Miami Heat loyalty my ass. The Heat are as ruthless as any other organization, yet only the Rockets get bashed for it.
His life is at stake. If they let him play they could be in the ECF right now, but who would clear him after he's been hospitalized for blood clots in two straight seasons, the second while already on blood thinners? My roommate is a doctor and said there's no way he would ever clear him. The scrutiny on the Heat and their doctors would be insane if anything happened to Bosh.
This is the sketchiness that I was questioning when Bosh and his wife both wanted him to play. I don't think it's as cut-and-dry as 'the doctors won't clear him'.
You guys really think the Heat are just trying to void Bosh's contract.... Please Wouldn't be surprised at all if Bosh retired, sad situation but health is always first.
Imagine if Bosh chose to play with the Rockets. CF would have blamed the training staff for not diagnosing the blood clots in the first place.
