The OP asks who had a BETTER SEASON OVERALL. All this other weird copy-paste duplicate posts is good to support Rox franchis player, but kinda off the topic

In my opinion, a guy can have an awesome 75% true shooting percentage. But the NBA is about RINGS and FINALS appearances, and it is about awards and honors.

A RING, league MVP, D-MVP, vs a great offensive season, exciting playoffs that unfortunately was ended by a great team but nonetheless was ended, I don't think there's much controversy over what's overall better.

Its really not to take away from Harden. It just shows how difficult it is to be the best player on a team let alone best player in LEAGUE and also win a ring.

Even in the regular season if we grant Braind's narrative that Harden had the better offensive regular season while completely ignoring era and many other factors we are still left with this scenerio:

Hakeem was 95% the offensive player that Harden was for that one season while Harden was 20% the defensive player that Hakeem was.

When you are one of the best offensive players AND THE BEST DEFENDER IN THE LEAGUE, that holds more value than being one of if not the best offensive player and AT BEST MEDIOCRE defender.

I even gave Braind the benefit of calling Harden a mediocre defender and my narrative still holds more water.

Are you seriously trolling us now? Why are you including all the years where Hakeem was past his prime?

Really? Because you stated that Hakeem was not 95% of the offensive player than Harden was using career numbers. Are you suggesting the same with prime numbers?

then just compare Hakeem's MVP season numbers with 14-15 Harden's. That was the focus of the thread in the first place. Any way you look at it, Harden's numbers are better. He's just more efficient, period.

Does not even matter if Harden is 1 or 3 percent better than Hakeem on Offense because Olajuwon was 100% better on D.

This is one of the convos that is meaningless because his all Offense is not getting us anywhere relevant.

Again metrics like Net Rating or Net Plus-Minus exist for a reason. 14-15 Harden's offensive impact - defensive impact is still greater than 93-94 Hakeem's offensive impact - defensive impact.

What people don't get is an individual defensive impact is nowhere near as great as individual offensive impact. There's a reason why great offensive players with weak defense wins MVP, but great defensive players with weak offense almost never does (maybe Bill Russell was the latest?).

Teams can build around with the former, but almost never does with the latter. The latter type would be a good role player, but that's it.

Defense is more about team concept. You can have mediocre individual defenders, if the defensive system is brilliant and the coach knows what he is doing, that team can still be pretty good on defense.

That's why when comparing individual players, great O-weak D players can sometimes win over good O - good D players. Dirk is considered better than KG, and Nash is considered better than Mike Conley.

That's just the nature of the game.

Except that we are comparing Hakeem a great O and great D player to Harden a great O that is gimmicky and AT BEST mediocre D.

I mean are you actually going to try to argue that Hakeem wasn't a great offensive player? How low will you go?

The point is you can't take individual offensive impact : individual defensive impact as 50 : 50, because that's just not the case.

There's a reason why Harden has higher Net Rating and Net Plus-Minus than Hakeem.

    Dude, here's the original post.

Basically he's using lytics from his anal and dragging Hakeem into the convo, just to prove that Harden is more important than Dwight, which is obvious

I mean if it was 50: 50 , how the hell Dirk has better all around numbers than KG?

offensively it's not like KG is a scrub. and defensively it's not even a match.

yet, Dirk has better advanced stat than KG.

    That's my point
