WTF Rockets WTF ... I have a forex trading system to sell you.

But first, you have to answer me a question.

But to be worthy of my system, you have to prove you are able to handle some basic questions on statistical relevance. Otherwise you won't be able to use the system properly.

    1) What is the statistical importance of 1 game's +/-?
    2) What is the statistical importance of shooting 0-3 on 3 pointers over 2 games?
    3) What is the statistical relevance of shooting statistics in a playoff series if a player was injured and barely able to raise his arms?
    4) Would it be better to not play in the playoffs to have surgery just prior to becoming a free agent (aka Beverley) or to play in the playoffs with an injury that limited your performance?
    5) This isn't a statistical question. It is simple +/- (which is your favorite topic, sort of). What is the number of seasons Lin was a Rocket + the number of seasons Lin has not being a Rocket - the number of seasons Tinman has been making 80% of his Clutchfans posts about Lin + the number of threads Tinman has made in the GARM this year where he has been totally abused from all corners - the number of letters required to change FTW Rockets FTW to WTF Rockets WTF + how many years has it been since 1999 - how many years has Tinman bragged about joining a fan forum since 1999 + how many times has Tinman watched a Rockets game live - how many people here care about how many times Tinman has watched a Rockets game live - how many people here care about whether Tinman has ever watched Jerry Lin play as a Rocket + how many people care about your signature on Sam Dekker or JJ Watt

Answer these correct, and I'll let you in on my powerful forex trading software developed which encompasses powerful trend, momentum and support/resistance technical indicators, fibonacci/elliott wave confluence factors, and position sizing based on the Kelly Criterion.

Heh...so you decided to look at his career playoff stats because you couldn't find anything to criticize specifically in this year's playoffs, right? LOL!

Btw - sorry for not being here for the last week. Apparently it is against the rules on this board to quote Yo Mamma jokes from White Men Can't Jump...

D'Antoni will disagree with you on Lin's transition game. And I know Casspi isn't the end-all authority, but when he was on the Rockets, he used to say that he would always run his hardest in transition because he knew Lin would reward him for it. Lin struggled on the Lakers in a large part because Byron Scott mostly had him play with the slow/old guys who couldn't run. And finally, guys who are efficient in driving to the hoop (points/drive) are usually great at transition offense...and Lin is one of the most efficient offensive orchestrators in driving to the hoop.

To say that Lin is "one of the worst out there" is simply wrong.

Dude.. Lin is shooting 36% in the playoffs and his stats this year are even worse than when he was on the rockets. I know it's just two games but your point above makes absolutely no sense when his playoff stats are even worse.

He is shooting 36%, but he is drawing fouls and making his FTs, which is resulting in him scoring 10pts/game on 5 shots/game...scoring 2pts/fga is considered to be excellent scoring efficiency.

Just to be clear...I am NOT saying that Lin is having a great playoff run. He is not. But he is not playing terribly, either. The fact is that the Hornets overall are playing poorly; specifically, they've gone completely away from what got them here (team ball, moving and passing) and gone completely old-school focusing on Walker-penetration or Batum/Jefferson posting. You can see it in the number of assists (less than half their season average) and number of 3pt attempts (less than half their season average). And even if they were playing their regular game, they still might not be any better because the Heat are making every shot...if the Heat continues their hot shooting, they will make it to the finals.

For Lin specifically, he's been solid...scoring is right around his season average. Assists are down, but that's been because Walker and Batum have been playing a ton of minutes as the primary ball handlers. Defensively, he's making Dragic and Wade work for their shots, but they are making them at a much higher-than-in-the-regular-season rate. The bigger issue for Charlotte right now is that Marvin Williams is shooting 1-15 across 2 games and nobody is even attempting 3pt shots to open the floor (not sure why, but it might even be a coaching strategy given how obviously the Hornets are giving up open 3pt attempts and choosing to drive instead.

Too out of control. Disaster once he gets in the air. He doesn't know where the ball is going. Jeremy could make a few changes and be a whole lot more valuable but that remains to be seen.

I like the kid as a person. Not convinced as a player. Guess it could be worse. Could have Brewer at 24 million...man he is awful

Referencing the location in someone's profile isn't racist. Just stop with the stupidity.

He's getting used like a turnstyle by D. Wade. I mean that was embarrassing. You could see Wade want the ball like he wasn't even being guarded.

Lin's made as many 3 pointers as Krnxsnoopy in the playoffs.

Transition game includes everything from getting the defensive rebound all the way to the hoop...there is so much more to the transition game than what happens when a player is in the air near the basket. And fwiw, he hasn't had that "in the air issue" this season...his jump shot has been off, but he's been good finishing at the rim.

Interestingly, Wade only took 3 shots inside the paint in the last game (yes, one was a post-up against Lin), so not sure how much of a turnstile Lin was versus Wade simply hitting everything from the outside and midrange that he took. And fwiw, Wade was being guarded by Courtney Lee moreso than by Lin, and he was simply playing great over both of them. Very few guards would be effective against Wade the way he has been playing in the playoffs so far.
