These guys aren't spring chickens anymore. Also looks like the wear and tear has eaten them alive. Hopefully the last win will give them some sort of rejuvination.
What Ariza did was extremely stupid. He actually cost us the game twice with his inbound passes. OMG! We got a rare Houston sports lucky moment, or otherwise this would be another Houston sports collapse/choke moment. The first inbound play, if the 5 second was coming up, he should have thrown it under his basket towards Patrick Beverly or threw the ball at the defender's back when he wasn't looking. That's Basketball 101. The second inbound play was even worse. Throw it front of Beasley! Either he get fouled by Draymond or Draymond will tip the ball while going for a steal. With one sec, we win regardless. That's Basketball 101 as well. WTF!!! Throwing it near their basket is beyond mindboggling!
ariza was so bad. beverely was horrid the 2nd half as well. just like dwight, arzia's athleticism is waning. see his elevation on his dunk? all those minutes are catching up to him.
Oh yeah, I remember that year distinctly. It's kinda hard to forget the seasons where the Rockets actually won a playoff series since it's happened so infrequently over the last 2 decades.
If Brewer and Ariza are both trash who should we play at the 3/backup 2? Some of you guys want KJ to play like 56 mins a game lmao
Agreed, surprised people are piling on Ariza. Yes he made dumb mistakes but do people really question his heart? Dude is always trying out there and sure he has lost a step and some athleticism but is usually as focused as anyone on our team. He definitely needs to do better on Sunday but I will be surprised if he has many more mental mistakes the rest of the series. Did anyone see Beverley yelling at Howard after he tangled up with Speights down low after a made bucket? I have been waiting for that all year. Other teams have guys that get in your face to get you focused but for whatever reason the passionate guys on our team rarely do it (Bev and DMo). Finally saw DMO yell at everyone to after he made a 3. That kind of stuff reinforces focus and intensity and is much needed on this team. Our "stars" are just not that type to get everyone pumped. It is a shame that they need someone to pump them up but that is the way it is. I think Terry, Prigioni were that way last year but Terry has been pretty ineffective this year and has stepped back as a leader for some reason.
No one's saying don't play Ariza. But he doesn't have to inbound the ball. You could let D-Mo or Dwight do it. I'd rather have a taller player who's worse at the foul line being the one out of bounds holding the ball in that situation. That way the shorter, quicker players who can actually knock down free throws are the ones scrambling to get the ball. A lot of this is on JB though. The entire point of a timeout in that situation is to draw up a play to get the ball inbounds. How he continuously fails to do this is beyond me. I've never seen a team this inept at running one of the most basic plays in basketball.
That was actually the plan. They knew it would be difficult to pass to Harden. So they pass it to the Warriors and get the ball back with the ball in Harden's hand. You notice they intentionally burned the last timeout so they didn't have to do another inbound play again?
..................................................................................................................
Exactly! Guys just let themselves be held, which is a problem with Harden a lot. Ariza has been a bad inbounder, so don't know why they let him do it in the first place though. Just use Beasley or D-Mo. Also in Ariza's defense, 5 second call is imminent and there's a lot of pressure, so while the smartest thing was probably to try and throw it off of a Warrior close to him, I understand why he just threw it towards Beverley who seemed to the most open.
6 years ago = "it was 6 years ago" 7 years ago = "wait, what!? That was seven, yes SEVEN, years ago!! You've gone too far man!"
