In many ways, the new underpasses and constructed conduits are much more prone to flooding because they've had to be built below grade (hence a flood gauge at all of these parts). 15 years ago, that flood-prone underpass didn't exist... just an unfortunate occurrence all around.
If some assclown hadn't blamed Greg Hardy's victim in the Texans Offseason thread, this would be the worst post of the year (non-D&D, of course).
Bear Creek is so ****ed right now. All roads to I 10 are flooded out due to Mayde Creek overflowing and 290 isn't much better.
I had to figure it out this morning to get my wife to the ER. Take Little York to Eldridge, then take Tanner over to the Beltway.
What exactly was so weird about the writing? But the husband has a point, how exactly does this happen in the city? If the water reaches a certain level, especially at an underpass where there are no alternative routes, it needs to be monitored closely and shut down accordingly. Granted I would've abandoned my car once I realized I was stuck and still had an opportunity to open my door, but I still can't put any blame on her. Try imagining what was going through her mind while she was drowning in her own car.
Been stranded in Katy for two days now. All roads blocked, wondering if it'll be possible to get out tomorrow. We've had 3 deadly floods over the course of a calendar year. Memorial Day, Halloween and this past weekend. Wondering if all of the construction has led to poor flood mitigation. Maybe the rainfall totals have been that extraordinary? No clue.
Wow so some streets are still under water. Anyone in the area know, everything getting from pearland to hobby Ok (particularly beltway 8 feeder between 288 & telephone)?
I was in Alvin yesterday and it was fine. No idea about a pearland though, but I doubt it. I think 288 only got bad around 610.
Tried this. Turns out everyone in Houston is trying it too. Had to abort, didn't have 2 hours to spare.

Yeah. Baby in the backseat and AC repairman supposedly coming out to my house between 9am-11am, I had no shot of making it there (baby's daycare) and back in time. Starting my day at 5 didn't make things easier like I thought it would.
Just letting y'all know that 288 is fine from the beltway heading in. Allen parkway is good to go too
