Didn't have time to watch the game. Only just watched the highlights. Can someone explain that call at the 2:14 minute mark to me please ?! http://www.nba.com/games/20160405/MINGSW/gameinfo.html?ls=iref:nba:scoreboard# Like I said didn't watch the game, so don't know what the exact call on the floor was at the time - but I don't remember the refs ever changing a call from defensive to offensive after review, or any calls for that matter other than maybe OOB plays to establish who should have possession of the ball.
Did you see the charge call they overturned on Curry against Minnesota? The refs are doing everything to help GS win out. It's not a conspiracy
Well it was the right call tbh BUT that's exactly why I asked the question couple of posts back!! Does anyone remember this happening? Other than OOB plays to determine possession, I can't recall a single game where a call was overturned after review. Can anyone explain - I wasn't aware they could do that??
Towns is driving the lane after pump faking (the hell out of) the defender. As he approaches the lane Curry steps up to take a charge. Towns makes the bucket and Curry is called for a blocking foul by the baseline referee. It is said that the called is based on Curry being inside the restricted circle. The replays show that Towns makes every effort to go around Curry. Curry can be seen leaning to ensure contact, before falling after contact. However since the referee based that call on Curry NOT being outside the restricted circle and it being under 2 minutes, they are able to replay it to see if he is in fact outside the circle. They cannot review whether he was moving or if Towns did avoid contact. Instead of the 5th foul on Curry and an And One to tie the game, wipe off the basket. GSW still has a 3 point lead and we go the other way.
From my understanding they can't overturn foul calls. So whether he was outside of the restricted circle shouldn't matter, right? I have never since the rule change, seen a foul call reviewed and overturned.
Which was the response most of us had when watching the game. It seemed the rules were being changed mid stream to suit the "Darlings of the NBA" ...or the Golden State Riley's. To keep that dream of 73 alive.
Exactly. I saw it on ESPN this morning and ofcourse they made no mention of how atrocious that call was. GS is a pretty good team, and shouldn't need the assistance of the refs to beat anybody. Had Minnesota lost I'd protested that if I'm Sam Mitchell
Pretty much. However, this still pisses me off. We all suspect certain teams get certain privileges. But this crap is getting out of control. Why are the refs catering to what the media wants? Who is instructing them to make these terrible calls?
Need to go undefeated in the last four but it's the D-League Grizzlies & resting Spurs. They should get it.
The initial call was definitely the right call. Even Chris Webber, who was calling the game was taken aback. But I think it is going to be lost (for the most part) in that Minnesota actually won, so no harm no foul. But now it is going to become known to coaching staffs and teams around the league and we are going to see a run of teams calling for it to reviewed in the last 2 minutes of games. I feel it's the opening of pandora's box.
San Antonio has a SLIVER of hope to get HCA in the playoffs, so I don't know if they rest players at least in the game Thursday. Shaq says they don't need it, but if you can get a series with GSW away from home, don't you try. If SA wins on thursday and the Grizzlies steal their 1st game I think SA pushes in game 2 too. The Warriors seem tired, or just ready for the playoffs.
i'm not expecting SA to play everyone. HCA doesn't mean much to Pop. It's only about having his players 100% and ready for the post season. that's the only thing hes focused on.
If this happens.... Spoiler *asterisk AND EVERYBODY WOULD KNOW Unless Warriors just beast the playoffs, the media, fans, and historians would never consider '16 GS > '96 Bulls Even the younger generation would realize, it's a fluke
Thx for that!! I guess I'll watch it tonight, I'm still kinda confused as to why exactly this was allowed!! Did GS ask for a review to have the call changed or did the refs just feel like they had to review their own call (just never seen that happen ever I think) If my mind isn't playing any tricks on me, I'm pretty sure I recall quite a few Rockets games, last season in particular, where late in games offensive fouls were called - but there was just no way for the refs to review it and change their call.
yes i brought this up in the gameday thread. Ive seen plenty of games where charges were called and not once were these reviews. Why would any team get a review of a judgement foul call? I've never seen a charge reviewed, let alone have the call reversed by going to a review. That sequence was just puzzling to me.
