As society evolves over time and hopefully become better. Does that mean that the ideal form of government should evolve over time also?
Bernie destroying the Obama/Hillary type FDA Commisioner in Nov 2015 confirmation hearings. Dr. Hack passed. The lobbying, big pharma money in action. Enjoy, if you like black humor. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vykFAgg6KTg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
A compilation of Bernie's greatest hits for 30 years. . For those who sort of like their leaders to have good judgment and don't have to always claim later that those establishment pols they supported could not have possibly have predicted what we now know was the right positions-- that only in hindsight was it possible to have seen things. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RU3NKvvxcSs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Here's the link but beware, Clinton has connections to the Brookings Institute and they have published items against Bernie Sanders. http://election2016.taxpolicycenter.org/2016/03/25/voxs-new-presidential-tax-calculator/
http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/3/25/11293258/tax-plan-calculator-2016 The Vox link is a bit better because it gives background on what the authors were trying to accomplish and provides links to each candidates' tax plan. I'm surprised Commodore didn't take the opportunity to add value to his low-quality post. No wait ... no, i'm not surprised.
If you have to have a celebrity supporter out there - Much, much less Susan Sarandon. More Rosario Dawson.
Mine goes up nearly $8400 according to the calculator. Seems high to me. The question is, if we ever go to Universal Health Coverage, will my wife's employer increase her wages to make up for what they pay in health insurance costs?
http://taxfoundation.org/article/details-and-analysis-senator-bernie-sanders-s-tax-plan A majority of the revenue raised by the Sanders plan would come from a new 6.2 percent employer-side payroll tax, a new 2.2 percent broad-based income tax, and the elimination of tax expenditures relating to healthcare.According to the Tax Foundation’s Taxes and Growth Model, the plan would significantly increase marginal tax rates and the cost of capital, which would lead to 9.5 percent lower GDP over the long term.On a static basis, the plan would lead to 10.56 percent lower after-tax income for all taxpayers and 17.91 percent lower after-tax income for the top 1 percent. When accounting for reduced GDP, after-tax incomes of all taxpayers would fall by at least 12.84 percent.
If you don't vote for your Presidential candidate on general philosophy, respect for the office and qualities of 'Face Of The Nation' you have the wrong idea. Presidents haven't really been able to shape legislation since maybe Clinton's first term. Congress is bought and paid for. Looking at the specifics of proposals, slanted for or against is a waste of time. Democratic ones won't see the light of day. Neither would Trumps.
Of course old Hill and Bill emasculated any labor/ working class oriented power within the Dem Party as they sucked up to Wall Street and turned the Dem Party into GOP lite, with a bit of social liberalism thrown in.
Western Democracy rose from the Greeks 2500 years ago. China as a civilization lasted twice as long as that until the West tore down their monarchies with Western ideals of government. There's no guarantee society evolves over time nor are the ideas we have today are more progressive, new, or advanced from other points in our history. We do live like kings compared to our historical ancestors, but that doesn't mean we hold the ideals and noble upbringings of romanticized royalty. It's a conceit similar to race or gender to assume we're the most progressed compared to others before us. The ideal form of government has to evolve over time because the main difference today over our past is a matter of size and scale. Organizations like democracies and dictatorships are a lot easier to maintain in the tens of millions. Try increasing it by a logarithmic scale of 2 or 3. At this point, I'm pretty sure every government is winging it, and no ideology is necessarily always better than the other. Successful countries are probably the ones where there's a higher ratio of "people with more ****s to give" over "people who'd rather leech and complain".
