Who are your nominees for the biggest movie masochists of our time? I nominate the following: Mel Gibson no one loves to suffer on screen like the Shrimp from downunder Sly Stallone he loves to bleed, and with great pain Bruce Willis and he's so sassy when he does it
The creativity of thread topics never ceases to amaze me on this board... I don't think you can argue much with Mel. Unless we get into the p*rn industry.
Harvey Keitel (see Bad Lt., Fingers, and, uh, Monkey Trouble) Edward Norton (25th Hour, Fight Club and the Italian Job -- lots of getting punched in the face) edit: what the heck is Friendly Fan's member title all about?
Hmmm. Maybe another moniker he was posting under? I'm sure the answer is somewhere in the black hole that is the D&D....
Well, there is a poster named PinetreeFM60 that posted back in 2001, but I didn't see anything too controversial from him...
His title may have to do with the fact that this Pinetree fellow had an insane PPD average that was well over 30 posts a day. However, that is just a guess. It is good to see that the admins are more freely giving of special titles these days with Puedlfor, Isabel, and now Friendly.
Halle Barry (broke arm during filming of Gothica) Jackie Chan Brandon Lee John Ritter is the ultimate TV masochist...
Guilty as charged. How about Raul Julia? Anyone remember him? Very talented guy, promising art movie career... slowly turned to awful low-budget movies. So not a masochist in his roles, but a masochist in his choices. His masochistic career arc goes something like this: 1985 Kiss of the Spider Woman (amazing) 1986 The Morning After (very good) 1988 Moon over Parador 1989 Romero (about the murdered Salvadoran priest -- very good) 1990 Presumed Innocent (with Harrison Ford -- more Hollywoody, but still a good film) 1991 Adam's Family (uh oh) 1993 Adam's Family values (good god, man) 1995 Streetfighter (horrible film, literally killed Raul)
What about that little old man on The Benny Hill Show that Benny was always patting on the head and kicking in the ass?
Bruce Campbell. Got the crap beaten outta him in Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2, did quite a few of his own stunts in Army of Darkness as well as for Hercules and Briscoe County. Also got tossed down a set of stairs as a favor to Sam Raimi for a scene that didn't even make it into the final cut of The Quick and the Dead. If you want to go by film role choices, also remember this is the guy who took part in Crimewave, McHale's Navy and the Maniac Cop series.
ahem, where is "Overdrawn at the Memory Bank?" a classic. and wasn't addam's family like a popular, successful movie? not sure about family values (don't even remember seeing it) but the first was good, wasn't it? maybe i was too young to know.
