The Hateful Eight made $150 mill WW on a $40 mill budget. That's hardly a flop given it's length, genre and lack of 'star' quality.
I think he's just saying she's ugly, not that she's ugly because she's black. I almost feel like Leslie Jones being on snl is itself racist. It's like snl cares so little about finding a black female comedian that they just grabbed the biggest loudest one that walked in the door.
It feels like Tropic Thunder with all the big personalities clashing. Eventually someone (Jack Black) had to lose. I hope it's not McKinnon, but let's be honest with ourselves, it's gonna be Kate McKinnon. I agree that in a big ensemble cast like this, the deadpan Kristen Wiig affect is just not going to work well. When it was just Wiig and McCarthy in Bridesmaids, it worked, but they won't be able to pull it off with four. They need Wiig to be the Ackroyd straight man, but she's not gonna abide with the diminished role enough to make the chemistry between characters work.
I think this movie and cast would have maybe worked if it were a sequel and not a reboot. At least it seemed more of a reboot to me. Trailer seemed pretty meh. Ghosts looked good though.
This looks like it could be fine, the original story was a satire of yuppies and bureaucrats trusting hippies and fringe scholars to battle foreign threats and civil unrest after Watergate and Vietnam; independent yet collaborative women are still an ongoing meme from the '90s and they've finally removed the romantic angle by making them more reliant on intelligence and grit than looks or charm. A community-wide supernatural threat is certainly allusive enough to all the crises of the new century. If anything it's a shame these types of projects weren't doable when O'Teri, Shannon or even Silverman could have used them.
If you say so...I haven't paid to see any of the Ninja turtles or transformers movies. Loved Battleship, never watched that garbage. You're taking my comment out of context, again this movie looks good.
The ghosts look amazing, but yea, the trailer wasnt spectacular or anything. But you know very well at least half of those dislikes are from people being upset at the fact that it's a female cast.
I'm not attracted to any of these ladies. However the bright is, if this movie turns out to be really good and is a huge box office hit, it wouldn't be as difficult to getting the full cast together to make a sequel. Imagine if it had Scarlett Johansson, Emily Blunt, and Alison Brie. Not only would I have a fapathon, but getting the cast together for a sequel would be unlikely.
I was open minded to the idea, but that trailer was flat out brutal. The ghost possession scene should not make a trailer. If that's one of the "better" scenes they got then wowza.
Funny actresses in this. But I'm definitely worried that it will be stinker. I don't hold much hope for it.
