Holding players accountable. So much easier said than done. The star players in this league have more power than the coaches. What you need is a coach that can convince players to hold themselves accountable. Yelling and screaming won't work with superstars. Benching a player doesn't work with superstars.

This isn't the old NBA before free agency, where coaches and teams had ultimate control. Coaches nowadays have to be players coaches to a certain degree.

very true with how the NBA is today and yes to a certain degree be a players coach but at the same time, the next coach needs to be respected above that. If they don't respect then all else fails no matter how good the roster may be. Guys like Thibs are respected amongst the league's best. But it is hard to find that balance

4 pages in and not a single Rudy T request.

What has happened to this city????

Why would anyone desire Luke Walton? I would have the same coaching record as him right now if I was coaching Golden St.
Even his own dad didn't speak that highly of him during the UW-Texas game on Friday when asked.
He just kept saying I am proud of him.

I am not saying they hire him. I am just saying someone was bound to come on here and say it.

My lean is to grab Brooks.

It was interesting to me that both Thibs and Brooks were either at practice or games this year. Clearly something was up early on.

Why do you want a coach thats marginally better than Mchale? To possibly lure in Durant?

    no.

Hire Thibs. this guy will give us balls and hold us accountable

    Brooks = McHale #2

Thibs = defensive coach. Not sure if he will make our offense click.

JVG = Not sure about him. Has been 8 years since he last coached. Not sure if he still has it in him.

Grabbing someone from college could be reasonable, but that is a high risk move that a playoff team with WCF aspirations probably won't do.

I'm personally not a fan of these choices, but I do know that McHail needed to go for this team to reach the next level.

It will be Thibs or Brooks. I think JVG would be better but that's not going to happen.

Thibs might work, but we would still need an excellent offensive assistant.

I just don't see Les re-hiring JVG and I would be concerned with his relationship with Dwight given that Dwight got his brother fired.

I think Scotty Brooks would make a nice assistant, but I'm not sold on him being that big of an upgrade over McHale.

Bring in Battier. He'll instantly become one of the 5 smartest coaches in the NBA, he's a former Rocket with championship experience, has a great relationship with Morey (from everything I've heard), and, well, how can anyone not be inspired to play hard for this guy:

I could live with Thibs as well.

I think it should happen sooner than later though. Sitting at 4-7, it is time to get the ship turned around now instead of weeks later.

At the end of the day Durant is going to play wherever he wants to play. Not where a coach is.
