There are plenty of coaches available. Thibs, JVG, Scottie Brooks, Shane Battier, Mario Elie. Probably a bunch of other possibilities we haven't even thought of. I don't know if any of them would take this job with the season already underway and no chance at a training camp, but Morey owes it to these players and the fans to at least pick up the phone and find out.
I'm on board. Why not? Are we seriously contemplating other coaches doing worse with this group? Remember in the off season how we considered ourselves 3 deep at every position? We still are. So, where else to look for the problem?
Pretty much this. He stinks, he needs to go, that's universally accepted. But who are you promoting in the interim? Chris Finch? J.B. Bickerstaff? They're not excused from this **** show on offense and defense, especially if you are/were a believer that McHale was/is the the "motivator" and Bickerstaff/Finch actually put in the defense & offense. So who are you bringing in? Probably gonna be hard pressed to get an actual long term solution in here, in season this season
This is 100% Daryl Morey's fault. He was the one that extended McHale. He was the one that ruined what we had last year and threw together this poorly constructed roster. Stop defending this guy, Morey is the one at fault!
How many more games are we going to waste? 5 was too many. 10 is painful. 15 is season-crippling in the west.
I would absolutely not promote from within. Maybe on an interim basis for a couple games while you hire a long-term replacement. But personally, I'd sh-tcan the entire coaching staff. McHale deserves most of the blame, but I'd say all of them have failed miserably this season. The potential downside to looking for a replacement is that some may pass on the job because we're already 9 games into the season(and counting). Or in order to secure their services, they'll leverage a lot of money and potentially at least some control over personnel moves. Regardless, McHale has to go. They cannot p-ss away this season on a guy who likely won't be around a year from now anyway. Why delay the inevitable(aside from money)? And keep in mind, Dwight can walk this offseason if he wants. Anyone seriously think he wants to return to a potential lottery team?
Les wanted Mchlae extended december last season. But, Morey is the one who says coaching doesn't matter in the playoffs. That's a HUGE red flag for Morey and his style.
I can't prove this, Its just a hunch, but I would swear that harden was so good last year especially on defense because of coach K holding him accountable during the Olympics. I can't prove it, Its just a hunch. That allowed McHale to skate. I really believe that.
