all these royals do is intentionally foul of pitches to drive up pitch counts, and to get into bullpens... its a cheap but effective way to win
Fiers has come out of the pen in previous seasons. The one he had this year was unexpected and not planned out. Fiers has known for sometime to be available out of the pen. Instead Hinch went with his usual garbage and you see what happened. Do you seriously think that Fiers would be close to that bad? So yes, some of the blame goes on a manager that didn't learn his lesson in game 2, and now in game 4 has done the same. To add insult to injury, he had Fiers warming up in game 2... when we were losing.
Astros doing some serious soul searchin tonight. Hopefully they come out pissed off and the bullpen gets tweaked. Not using Friers AT ALL coming out of the bull pen doesn't make sense...especially after seeing the bullpen blow leads twice in this series
tough loss... Give me McHugh over Cueto though. We can still do this. Please do not run out Harris again
I didn't like Hinch's decisions in Game 2, but I can't really fault him for today other than maybe not pulling Harris one at bat earlier. Two of his best relievers literally could not get an out. Is that on the manager or the pitchers? I'd say the latter.
This is the type of stuff that makes the game fun, though. There's a very fine line involved and you can easily fall below or fly above the line at any time. The Royals battled back. Credit goes to them. I honestly thought it was too easy earlier...and I was right unfortunately.
Oh I'm on record saying I wanted Fiers in game two It's easy to blame a manager when almost the whole pen is sucking, that's what I'm saying
Devastated. That 8th is up there as one of the worst sporting moments of my life. Refuse to give up though. McHugh can do it in game 5.
The bullpen was the undoing of this team in September and now they're trying to do the same in October.
Of course it's that simple. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If that was the case, why did he take Harris out?? Why not leave him in for a few more batters? I'd love to see how many times a set up man has been left in to give up 4 straight hits to start the inning with the game in the balance in the history of major league baseball.
"We are still a good team.I still trust all those guys.... Perez, Harris, Nesh, Fields.. they will get another crack to get the job done in game 5. Yeah... I will go back to em." - Hinch post game "**** you" - Springer
