Well Hoops Fans it is almost time for training camp with the near complete squad of ROCKETS. However I can only wonder about the front court, which is getting no coverage. Juwan will more than likely be missing training camp just like Bob Surrrraaaa! 1.) How does a man recover from this type of illness, smile and keep playing 30 minutes per game for us? He is not bed-stricken though because ESPN HOLLYWOOD reported that he has just purchase an amazing yacht that is docked on Miami's shore as we speak. 2.) Stromile is a great athlete, but he still satisfies the role played by Kelvin Cato in his hard-played (swan song) last season in the Rockets duds. You know running, jumping, shot blocking, fouling, left open for shots. 3.) Will the Rockets make a move on David Wesley or will our stomaches cringe everytime he gets an opportuity to hit a momentum shot? 4.) Will we resign Torraye Braggs? There is definitely a roster spot open for a competent power foward that is a BRUTE. 5.) Bob Sura is the unanimous choice at the point, but what can Mike James do to get the job and keep it for good? We saw glimpses of what he can do when given the starting position, but his services probably do suit us on the bench. 6.) Looking forward to being proven wrong that Derek Anderson is not a washed up version of himself from the player he was in 1999-2000 season when he like another player...made an EXODUS from CLIPPER LAND to another team with big expectations, but only to rob the team blind for years....Thank you Mo Taylor...your treachery will not be forgotten. FEEDBACK IS NEEDED ON THIS THREAD..........
I thought JVG said Juwan will be ready to go and that the doctors have cleared him for full workouts.
juwans been cleared to being full contact workouts...the only health concern appears to be Sura...Stromile will be fine...I believe he'll be our 4th offensive option behind Yao, TMac and D-Anderson...if Stro can give us atleast 12/6, it'll be fine...
This morning Bill Worrell was interviewed on 610 and he said that Juwan looked to be in amazing shape or words to that effect and claimed Sura was the only question mark heading into camp. Worrell also said he's been told Yao's ankle is fine now and that he's looking good, been working on his jump hook in China. Bill went on to say he thinks the Rockets will be right behind the Spurs in the West this year with the Mavs right behind us.
Carrol Dawson's comments on Juwan Howard 08-25-05 "Juwan was released a couple of weeks ago. The doctors had had a heart monitor on him all summer and it held him.. ya know, they started him at, I think, 120 and 140 and then 180. After he got cleared from the 180, now he can go full blast. So for the last two weeks, he's been released to go. You have to get your heart rate up to betweent 240 and 260 to play this game which is unbelievable." Unfortunately, my audio feed dropped out right there (damn buffering). Here's the interview
I hope there will be no 3rd or 4th or .. option. You know what TMac is and what Yao is, the rest must be just TEAM PLAY.
JVG said the other day on 610 that doctors have said - and Juwan went to 4 or 5 specialsts to make sure - that this was a one-time condition that will NOT re-occur. Juwan is completely healthy and in excellent shape and will be ready to go for training camp. According to him, Juwan was cleared and then went to several other specialists just to make sure he got all the opinions he could. All of them agreed that his is fine and completely in the clear.
A quick search shows that most heart monitors only cover the range from 30bpm-240bpm, and one definition of atrial flutter which I found describes at as a rate of above 240 bpm. That having been said, it has long been seen that people who are at the top physical condition for rowing sports will have enlarged hearts, but the enlargement is in not a sign of a health problem as an enlarged hard would normally indicate, IIRC.
Just saw the Sura comment. I'm not sure he's a "unanimous" pick for the starting job. I'd wait for the pre-season.
