Nas is a better rapper than Jay-z. Jay-z has the pop appeal to the people, but Nas has the street appeal. Jay-z is a good rapper but he hasent shown the same hunger since "Reasonable Doubt".
Nas destroyed Jay on "Ether". Since then, everybody has been waiting for a response from Jay. His new album Blueprint 2 is supposed to drop soon so we'll see. Nas is one of,if not the best lyricist in the game.

Anyone who truly appreciates lyrical rap and its roots, not all this "pop" sh*t, knows Nas is better.

Despite my namesake, I actually currently believe you're right.

But some of JayZ's old stuff (Volume 1, Reasonable Doubt) are very good. For that matter, though, Nas was putting out some of his best stuff then (Illmatic, I Am, It Was Written - My favorite, etc).

I like them both equally, but since my initials happen to be J.Z., I had to go with that as my screen name.

Jay Z put out "Takeover" it was on the flip of "Girls, Girls, Girls" It was an answer to "Stillmatic"

He picked Nas and Prodigy apart on that one.

JayZ also answered "Got yourself..." and "Ether" with "Supa Ugly" and "People Talk" on the flip.

Then half of the unplugged album is disses, with the Roots flipping "Oochie Wally" for a Nas diss.

IMHO, "Stillmatic" was the best of the disses, and Nas is one of my favorites, but this went back and forth especially with the white label disses. Good Stuff :)

    Like 'em both.

Nas is just a good rapper, period, but nothing wrong with hearing JayZ's radio stuff every now and then too.

From what I've heard, Jay lost a lot of street crediblity when he dropped "Super Ugly," It was the highly anticipated response to Nas and it flopped worse than Karl Malone and Vlade Divac. I thought he had a couple of good one-liners but on the whole, it was weak material. Especially coming from Jay. Ether cant be beat.
