Make no mistake about it Rockets fans haven't been this down about the front office in a while. As we know the Rockets got bounced in the 2nd round against the Warriors and rumors are the 2 stars aren't getting along. Trouble with game plans in iso heavy offense and two players who got paid in Capela and CP3 last offseason didn't step up when it mattered against our biggest competition. Coaching wise it seems as tho the Rockets and coach MDA are in a limbo as MDA still hasn't gotten a contract extension and most of the staff that was let go this off season still hasn't been replaced yet with the NBA draft less than a week away. Rockets sorely need an elite playmaking wing to pair with Harden and CP3 and need better rebounding from their front court position. Tilman loves to talk about winning the Larry O'Brien trophy at all costs but this past season he found numerous ways to duck the luxury tax for a contending team. Will he and Morey walk the walk or just talk the talk? This is the most important off-season of Morey's tenure.
Like they usually do - Be raucous and gung-ho on social media and then proceed to sign a bunch of scrubs
I’m not expecting much. What can they really do? Our best bet is somehow upgrading the team via a Capela and/or EG trade. We have no cap space. We have no assets.
Honestly there is no one to "blame." Circumstances are what they are. We don't have cap space, we don't have a full MLE, we don't have trade assets and we aren't a market/team that players are going to destroy their current franchise in order to force their way here. Morey has to work very hard and be very creative and then get lucky.
Maybe Chris Paul will lose ten pounds and regain his old form? That may be our best bet. We already gambled on him
We had no issues with having free agents come here with Dwight Howard and CP3 recently. Problem is they were fundamentally flawed superstars either with age or health
Like they usually do, try their best. Fans just have to keep their expectations in check since the reality is we have no asset and no flexibility.
We had cap space at that time. When we had cap space Morey got good players. Like I said, no one to "blame." When circumstances are right we get things done. Morey and the owner, no matter who he is, can't snap their fingers and make it work out.
The Ryan Anderson contract that was given out by Morey under Les was definitely a blame from someone. I feel like that contract is what made Harden era in Houston window extremely close. Also not giving away first round picks like they are candy is another way we are the way we are right now
If you go back in time and undo that Ryan Anderson contract the only thing that might be different is they might not have been as good the next year. That could have unwound the potential for CP3. We've paid a high price to be competitive and the 2nd best team in the West during the Golden State era.
I'm very excited to hear how close we got with signing player A or player B but then we sign guys like MCW and Ennis and Morey talks about them outplaying their contracts. Guna be a fun one
"We like our team." "We like our roster." "We have the MVP, best player in the league." "Feel the West is wide open." "We want to have our best team in April and May, not in July or August." blahblahblah
"We have a terrific owner, I'm confident we'll get it done. We feel really good about our chances against LA, both of them" "Ya we feel fortunate to be able to re-sign Iman Shumpert to a 3-year contract, there were a lot of teams after his services as well" "We're really high on Thabeet's second stint with us, we feel like he's finally ready to contribute"
Yep respect @justtxyank but that comment was a little off. We wasted our draft picks and cap space on a flawed roster. Has Harden ever had an elite frontcourt play maker with him ever?
"this team isn't built until march" same ol every summer followed by "we wake up everyday thinking how to get Harden a ring"
