This is some bull****. Kobe and Paul wouldn't even be that good. Kobe and Dwight would be much more dangerous. As much as I didn't like the Gasol deal, I think this stunt is bogus. LA is the only team that put out an offer in which Chris Paul would sign an extension too, he had to go to LA. The hornets got to be pissed right now.
Then why didnt the league not tell the GM not to trade Paul. Everyone in the freaking world knew Paul was on the block? And how is this legal? By owning the Hornets, the NBA is directly screwing players.
Don't really know the answers to those questions, just telling the difference between Den-NY trade and this one. Agree 100%.
How was it all unfair? Paul is leaving after this year. New Orleans got a really nice return package. Now they will get nothing, how is that fair?
Didn't David Stern gift wrap Pau Gasol for the Lakers a few years ago? He's had enough of that. He's going on to the Knicks now!
Isn't this a huge conflict of interest?? Hey owners-of-other-teams would you rather see another superstar go to the lakers continuing to contend for titles for years to come and have the Hornets become competitive OR would you rather see the lakers not get CP3 and the Hornets continue to suck? It's in the best interest of the owners (not involved in said trade) to veto any trade that makes any other team better. The losses are minimal when spread throughout all the league owners so standing pat sounds like a good solution for them.
Because of this, CP3 might have to finish the season with the Hornets and take his chances next summer as an UFA. How can the NBA veto this an allow another trade?
Aside from Stern having absolutely nothing to do with that: Why do most people conveniently forget that Marc Gasol, the player EVERYONE on the board wants, was part of that Pau for Kwame trade?
i agree with Stern's decision to block this deal. it seems that Lakers are just trying to get what they want which is what they always do anyway. just hope there is no change in his mind to make it happen. good job Stern.
