If another team hires him as coach they will regret it. Unless he's changed, Doug Collins is even more irritating as a coach than as an announcer.
I like Doug Collins as a commentator. Very intelligent about the game. Don't always agree with his opinions, but he has a great understanding of all facets of the game and does a good job explaining things. Always liked his broadcasting
I'd agree with this, but don't think it makes him a good commentator. First, for a guy whose shtick is this, I think Skeletor (Hubie Brown: "You might ask why I get called Skeletor, well the answer is really simple. First, you take a look at my face, I look like Skeletor. Okay, right? I legitimately scare the crap out of kids. And secondly, you have to consider what Joe Crawford saw and that was the fact that I really, really do look like Skeletor.) does a much better job. Second, that type of announcing is generally boring anyway. Most hardcore NBA fans don't need Doug Collins to help them understand why the points per shot metric is important. Yes, put up the graphic, but Doug, you don't have to spend 5 minutes explaining something so painfully simple and obvious. Plus, most casual NBA fans don't care about that detail. Which puts both categories of fans in the same boat: Give us some info, with a lot of entertainment. Doug gives a ton of info with no entertainment value.
Agree. Hubie is the best when it comes to knowledge. And JVG is hands down the best when it comes to entertainment. (JVG is too opinionated to be objective. But that's exactly his entertainment value.)
