So, I'm presuming he's projecting to be more of an MLB pitcher, correct? Or will he be the next Brian Bogusevic/Rick Ankiel? (failed pitchers that stayed in the big leagues thanks to hitting).
do those son of beeches still have the no beard policy? only 1player on our roster would suit up for them, Will Harris. I've never seen will with any facial hair.
No clue. I haven't seen anything on teams opinions of his desire to both pitch and hit. I'm assuming that will be a selling point by most teams. His current injuries may raise red flags about his long-term prospects to pitch and hit. I think AL teams that can offer him a DH spot and occasional starts would have a leg up. Will be interesting to see how his career plays out.
I hope so. I’m worried about McCann falling off a cliff, performance wise. Houston is pretty much married to him as the starting catcher next season.
Is this correct: http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/2017-18-international-bonus-pools/#JcA7XQ0o0v1GozPR.97 The Astros will likely be out of the running as they are in the 1st year of penalty spending?
Teams under international spending limits are unlikely to be affected in the Otani sweepstakes because it is obvious that money is a virtual non-factor in his decision. He likely is giving up $100M+ by coming over this year instead of when he could be treated as a free agent not under the international pool limits. So Houston being limited to $300k isn’t going to keep them out of the running.
While he's giving up a lot of money, there's still a big difference between $5MM and $300,000, I would think? Especially if other attractive west coast teams like Seattle can offer the full amount.
