I think Bev will come back via free agency later on in his career. He'll realize life is much easier with Harden.
I think most ppl will choose Bev because they have seen him beast as a Rocket but the correct answer is Covington. He is a monster on Defense and super versatile. Decent shooter too. I don't know how we let him slip out of our grasp.
CF wish: Josh Smith & Michael BEasley (they're always mentioned first when there is an open roster spot) @Carl Herrera's wish: Patrick Patterson I don't know if I see any returnees. Aldrich, Cole Asik, Omer Beasley, Michael Beverley, Patrick Brewer, Corey Brooks, Aaron Carroll, DeMarre Casspi, Omri Covington, Robert Daniels, Troy Dekker, Sam Dragic, Goran Ennis, Tyler Green, Gerald Harrell, Montrezl Howard, Dwight Lamb, Jeremy Lawson, Ty Lee, Courtney Leuer, Jon Lin, Jeremy Livingston, Shaun Lowry, Kyle McDaniels, KJ Moore, E'Twaun Morris, Marcus Motiejunas, Donatas Parsons, Chandler Patterson, Patrick Payton II, Gary Robinson, Thomas Smith, Ish Temple, Garrett Terry, Jason Williams, Alan Williams, Lou World Peace, Metta
A factor here is who is under contract and for how much and how long. The most likely returnees right now are scrubs who are free agents since the Rockets have a largely settled rotation and nothing to pay except minimum contracts. Gerald Green and Thomas Robinson are both free agents, but right now they are more likely to either sign overseas or at least with a club where they are more likely to get minutes. Otherwise, maybe one of the under contract guys somehow end up in Houston as a piece of some massive deal. None of them is really the superstar that would be a Morey main target, but who knows how trade packages are constructed.
I was one of the Josh Smith wishers last year; he would've plugged some holes for us. His strengths were our team weaknesses and his weaknesses were our team strengths. Regardless, now that we have Tucker, Moute, Black, we should have more rebounding and defensive versatility that we've sorely needed. Parsons - mediocre-at-best, over priced. No way Morey re-signs him for any price. DMo - NBA career is toast. Beverley - possibility if things shake out a certain way over the next couple of years. Brewer - NBA career is toast. Covington - Gets my vote. Morey would jump on this if the price was right for a bench role. Dekker - Not sure he'll ever be anything more than Budinger. Patterson - I don't think he finds his way here, probably stays on OKC for a while and his price stays too high. Dragic - Burned his bridges with the Rockets. I don't think Dragic would choose to come back.
Smoov. His game fits MDA style. Hes cheap. Most importantly, he gets along with new banana boat crew as he is close to Ariza, Paul and Harden. His AAU days and affiliations are far behind him.
