Euro makes landfall in Galveston at 992 mb.. Which would make it a strong Tropical storm or a weak cat 1 hurricane... more likely a strong Tropical storm but this is the Gulf of Mexico so just pay attention to it.
Looks like the models that had it landing west of Galveston have moved to the east. Hopefully we are fine.
Way too much shear and the water is still relatively cool at 82 degrees. This isn't going to be a hurricane, it's barely a TS and even looks sub tropical. NHC just chose the middle ground of the Euro and the GFS and placed landfall at the LA/TX border. I'm just hoping we get some rain. Need it badly.
Yea shear is really taking its toll on the storm. It is in some bad shape at the moment. This is a really cool and new sattelite the GOES 16 that just came on line recently. Amazing pictures! http://weather.cod.edu/satrad/exper/?parms=gulf-02-24-1
Yeah...SOME rain would be good. Not interested in a flood event. wow! great pictures! It looks stationary. And there is zero western front to this storm at all.
Tropical Storm Warnings now extended down to San Luis Pass and includes Galveston and Harris Counties.
Models starting to converge on it coming in at Beaumont. We will get some rain, but should avoid heavy flooding in that event.
And helped by the fact the is no wrap around to this storm; no real significant storms on east or southern parts. It looks even worse than it did yesterday.
I work from home on Wednesdays and i'm out of town on Friday, so an office shutdown on Thursday would have meant a 5 day weekend for me!
