We knew it was going to be tough because he is not Chinese. He is from Slovenia, a country of only 2 million people”, Zoran said to SpanishHoops. “He still has a chance to go to the All-Star because there are some injured players. We’ll see. Anyway, he is playing the best basketball of his career, so if he’s not called now, he will have time to be an All-Star in the future”.

So Zoran doesn't think Yao deserved to be an All-Star?

I think Goran and Anthony Davis will take Kobe and CP3's spots.

He said that it's harder to make it in when you're not Chinese. I'm not sure that this defines his position on Yao's worthiness.

i don't think he meant it like that. this interview was a translation so it could sound more crude in English. he could have substituted american for chinese cause i think his point is you get less all-star votes from your "home country" b/c the population is so small compared to other countries.

Shots fired at Lin. If Lin wasn't Chinese, would he even be an All-Star voting option?

yea probably just bad translation. I'm sure he just means he doesn't have the support of a big country like China, meanwhile CF goes crazy

Haha what? I mean who is he referring to? I guess the only one close would be Lin? But then wasn't Harden below him in votes? Wait...fans would never have voted Goran over CP3 or Kobe. So he must be referring to the coaches picking the reserves.

    In conclusion, coaches are Chinese.

He's saying that with the way Goran has been playing, if he had been Chinese he definitely would have been voted in because China is a country with far more people, compared with Slovenia, a country with only 2 million people.

Not really an offensive statement, since he is just saying one country would have more voting leverage than the other due to population.

I still think Demarcus Cousins should have made it. Lillard just has the 20ppg criteria, in all honesty the rest of his stats are unworth (19 PER?). He's a sophomore so he should still have to pay his dues.

Cousins has the 5th highest PER of any player in the country! And unlike Paul (#3) or Davis (#6) he has been playing the entire year to boot.

That sounds more like something Moran Dragic Goran's half cousin would say.

99.9% of the NBA aren't Chinese, why doesn't he just say that Phoenix isn't LA, NY, or Chicago. If Dragic played for the Lakers, Bulls, or Knicks, he would be an All Star for sure.
