NBA HOF is a joke, it's basically a popularity contest. Too many chumps get in while they've accomplished nothing in their career.

Oshman’s at Sharpstown, LOL that Place was great. I got my black Nike Air Ballistic Force hightops there in 1993. Hard to believe now, but Sharpstown mall was an ok place to shop in the 80s and early 90s.

Beyond ridiculous, beyond absurd, beyond human understanding, unless one has the understanding of a rock, and not Rocks, with a capital R. Everyone associated with Houston basketball, the fans, coaches, and pundits who followed the career of San Diego's 1st round pick in the 1970 draft (taken 2nd) knows he belongs in the Hall. That year, the Rockets also took a 5' 9" guard, Calvin Murphy.

The two began a great friendship, rooming together on the road, and both just missing out on playing with future coaching greats Pat Riley and Rick Adelman, "scrubs" moved the year before. Rudy got off to a slower start than Calvin as a rookie, but came alive after the move to Houston the next year. Five times an All Star, with his elite career derailed by Kermit "Cheap Shot" Washington in 1977, Rudy hung on as a player a bit longer, then began a very long journey as a coach. A well known story here, but apparently not well known enough.

A scout with Houston for 2 years, then an assistant spending endless hours watching tape, preparing for games, his big break was given to him by Carroll Dawson. Coming off a Coach of the Year performance, Don Chaney was abruptly fired during the season. Coach Dawson turned down a chance to be head coach and then did something that changed the course of the franchise and, some have rightly said (in my opinion) the course of NBA basketball. He suggested Rudy T. Dawson's suggestion was surprisingly taken, and a stunned Rudy Tomjanovich was head coach of the Houston Rockets. The rest, as the poet said, is history, a history that lacks one thing. A place in the Hall of Fame that should have been his years ago.
