Is he the most overlooked defender on the Texans? - I know hes undersized for an inside linebacker but he just gets to where he needs to be quicker than almost any IL I seen and can hit/tackle pretty well for his size. Hes been maybe the most consistent player on defense all year and a great asset against the run. What do you think is his ceiling?
I've always watched him pretty closely since the draft, not really sure why but he intrigued me with his range and cover potential. He's definitely been a great pickup. He's a great compliment to McKinney
Individually they have a lot of talented players on Defense. Collectively, we can't stop a nose bleed. They do seem to make plays when it counts. Merciless, Reid, Watt, Roby, Cunningham, McKinney, Tashaun and Reader. That's 8 out of 11 positions that are above average to excellent Martin and Omenihu are coming into their own in pass rushing situations. Conley in his 8 games as a Texan has been way better than his Oakland days.
In a 3-4 there is a strong inside and a weak inside, and the weak inside is effectively the same position as a weak outside in a 4-3 - weak side pursuit and pass defense. He's fine size wise. If they switched to a 4-3 next week he'd slide right into the Will.
He's a stud and not overlooked in fantasy circles, he's been the better LB since maybe halfway into his rookie season. He was the range-y cover LB where McKinney was the downhill runstopper. Like Collins and Hightower in the Patriots heyday.
He literally lead the AFC in tackles this year. I'd say his ceiling right now is the roof. Dude is a stud.
I just looked him up, and he's 6'3, 235 pounds according to wiki. That's enormous, especially when the demands from the 2nd level are requiring smaller speedier guys to the point where DBs are getting converted to weakside LBs. Two of the top rookie LBs this year, Devin Bush and White, are both 6' and under.
Texans have good linebackers, The secondary is improving. Watt coming back is huge because any dline help will be multiplied by linebacker/db talent, but subpar dline play makes the rest of the defense non existent
