Your favorite [TV show] series finales, and least fave?

    Whether it's a hated or beloved show, which series finales AMAZED you? And which do you think failed to live up to your standards? This is mostly just a recommendation thread to get people who might be on the fence on whether to watch a show or not. Someone told me something interesting about the end of Six Feet Under so that swayed me to watch it, and it was well worth it. You're going to get attached to characters when watching a show from it's beginning, making a finale potentially devastating or enlightening. Or even disappointing.

    So, the Six Feet Under finale hits hard. Like, affected for days hard, lol.
    And I just LOVE The Shield finale, I thought it was perfect and some parts even unexpected.

    Other great shows like Rescue Me, Sons of Anarchy, and OZ couldn't quit hit that high note of an ending, imo. I mean they weren't as bad as Dexter's finale, but they all had the potential to leave their fans in awe. Maybe OZ's finale was fitting and the best way to end it, but it just felt more like a whimper to me.

    Are we allowed to call Serenity a two hour finale for Firefly. If so, that's #1 for me.

    These stands out as some of the worse

    The Shield was AWESOME

    The thing with these are it was just not the finally but everything leading up to them
    Son's whole last season was hot garbage
    Dexter's last season was a bunch of eye rolling stupidity

    Shield's last season was a heart thumping marathon of greatness

    Seinfeld finale was great. (Ducks)

    I love The Shield but don't remember the finale. I'm sure it was good though. Even remembering the finale has to be 50 percent of it though right?

    The Shield - best I can remember
    Justified - one of my favorites

    Did not care for Lost finale

    SOA finale was absolutely terrible.

    Spartacus was anti climatic (i know it's history but what a buzz kill).

    Justified's finale was amazing.

    Worst
    Lost, Dexter, How I Met Your Mother, and Lost a 2nd time because of how bad it was.

    Six Feet Under and Breaking Bad for sure. Sons of Anarchy got just a little too weird with the Christ symbolism.

    I don't understand why people hated the HIMYM finale so much. Granted, I didn't get invested into the show until it was ending. I've seen every episode in succession and I thought it was good.

    Best for me will always be M*A*S*H. The West Wing was pretty good. I personally liked The Sopranos. I don't mind the fact that it was left open to interpretation. Parks & Rec was a great ending, too.

    As big of a SOA fan as I was, the finale was pretty bad.

    oh yeah, least fav would have to be Deadwood, because THEY DIDN'T GET TO FINISH THE ******* SERIES . . . .

    I'm still heartbroken

    Worst? Game of Thrones. Euron slaying the three dragons from his ships and dragging the Night King into Daenarys court demanding her hand in marriage was just too much.

    I didn't hate the Lost finale, I hated the direction the show took in the last two seasons but I thought the last episode was decent actually

    I posted a *very* similar thread about a year ago (here). Late summer is just the time to get thoughtful about endings, I guess...? :)

    I even mentioned a lot of the same shows (Six Feet Under, The Shield, Dexter).
