Is that just me or anyone else see this "foot not healing" thing as Yao/Rockets' way to tell the Chinese national team to "leave Yao alone" for the summer? Has anyone brought this up yet?

In a way I think its kind of too late. As Yao gets holder it will be more difficult for him to heal. I wouldn't be surprise if his foot now doesn't heal at all.

What makes you think like that? After all, he is only 29, not 69. :) I still have a hunch that it's just for the Chinese national team.

plan can be changed but this "not healed yet" excuse can put the whole controversy to rest, at least for this summer.

Personally, I think it is not a good thing... The more he stays inactive, the more weight he will gain...

There are three things we be fairly sure of:

    1. Yao's lingering foot injury is legit.
    2. This is disastrous both for him and the Rockets.
    3. It won't be the last time he breaks down.

Ilgauskus looked like he was going to be the second best center in the league his first few years. Then he started having foot problems that really derailed him for about 5 years when he should have been his most productive. He is older now and I think has been relatively injury free the past few years. Not sure if it is the result of getting the problem identified and treated appropriately, monitoring his minutes or a combination of both, but I think those are the things that need to be looked at with Yao. I don't think his age should factor into it too much yet.

His foot is another REASON why you trade him in the last season of his contract. You DO NOT sign him after his contract expires. He'll be about 31 and HE WILL not last over 32 or 33. Trade him and get whatever you can.

Personally I think that's exactly what Team Yao is doing right now - to give Yao a summer to rest. As a Chinese myself, I don't blame him. He deserve some rest time. CNT want him back for the Asian Games in the summer. If Chinese National Team cannot be the top team in Asia, what good can Yao do to this team? It takes 5 baby.

This is just a smoke screen for the CNT.

What will be really disastrous is Yao recovers and plays for CNT this summer!!! He needs another month of good rest!! Just don't do anything!

Even before this he's officially excluded from the CNT roster for this summer. This is more for other NBA teams (especially the Calvs).

Maybe Ron needs to share his Flinstone vitamins with him, and allow him to eat the ladies. :)
