As reported on Sohu.com today, Yao Ming threw a dinner banquet for 10 of the organizing members of his authenic Houston fan club, Houston Chapter at his Yao Restaurant & Bar to thank them for their loyal support of him for the past 5 years.

Ye Li was also there joining her newly wed husband for the dinner with his fans. And the loyal die-hard fans presented Yao Ming and Ye Li with a set of fountain pens made out of deer horns.

This fan club was formally launched in July 14, 2002 just right after Yao Ming got drafted that year. And most of the original organizing members were scholars with master and doctorate degrees, and hold prestigious professions as chief editors, professors, IT engineers, professionals, CEOs etc. in organizations in the Metro Houston area.

So how many of your guys were there in this banquet dinner ??

Ironically, the original website created by these fans no longer exists and did not last longer than YMM or Clutchfan site. :D

LOL at Yao's expression... His wife's body posture exactly mirrors Yao's.

They weren't really a "site." They were a club organized mainly to buy group tickets and to have fun going to games...imagine a Rox club organized by Dave2000. That's what they are.

The first season, they pretty much had 100-200 tix each game sitting in the area of Compaq that the Rowdies have at TC.

I tried to join ticket purchasing power with them (when i did Dave2000s type stuff with cc.net), but it got too complicated. They are great guys though.

Nice to know. But to some simple-minded people. Yao's Fans will always = YOFs = selfish fans. These are also the people who think all women in the world are sluts after they watch the Jerry Springer show.

Of course, I know they were not just a website............

What I meant is the website they originally established/maintained, the one shown on their uniform T-shirt, no longer exists. That Yao Ming Fan Club site was one of the very first Yao Ming fan club sites that I bookmarked; even before I discovered and stationed at YMM.....
