    Great job by bob718!

As someone with a very bad back who makes a point of keeping my weight below the norm for my age, I've got to say this is some of the best news I've heard come from Yao's mouth. I'm hoping he might regain some of the mobilty I remember him having when he entered the league. Seems like he was quicker then. Was that a hallucination?

Good to hear. Hopefully this will help next year. Perhaps he will be a bit quicker also.

I believe the thing is, that he has turned into more of a power center. However ever since he's turned into a power center he's gotten more and more injury proned. in 05-06.

I do hope, he can keep the majority of his strength though.

Aside from losing 15 pounds, hope Yao develops a consistent perimeter game. A reliable hook shot would also be nice. ;)

I agree that being heavy is taxing on the joints for Yao.. cutting 15 lbs is a pretty good idea at this point. I think he'll be more agile (maybe just a little) and have less risk of injury.

Comparison of Yao from long time ago and Yao from now:

We definitely dont want him like in the first pic....and the second pic isn't actually now, i believe that was the summer he worked out with falsone in China to put on some mass, so it was over a year ago, he's lighter up top now.

Actually it's from almost 2 years ago, that was the summer of 07.

Yeah, well I think somewhere in between would be good.

First 3 seasons he played 82,82, and 80 games.. so a lighter frame does cut down on risk of injury.

Exactly! Good point. The guy can't do anything to please some fans. First we want him to gain weight. So he does. Then when he fractured his foot during the playoffs this year, there were posts that he needs to lose weight to reduce strain on his feet. Now he says he wants to do just that, and some people complain he will get weak if he does.

Losing a little weight is not the same as saying he should go back to his skin and bones days like in this picture. It's a gradual process and he can stop after losing only 10-15 lbs. Nobody is asking him to work out until he reaches former weight in this picture.
