How, exactly? All that says is the GM didn't want to tank. That doesn't mean that tanking is the best position for the NO franchise. Ownership wants to tank, keep payroll low and get young assets. How is that any different than our GM actually wanting to tank but Les telling him no?

Maybe we should trade Demps for Morey.

At this rate David Stern is starting to mount a serious challenge to Sep Blatter for the title of the world's most corrupt sports commissioner.

Max Kellerman was talking about this article yesterday on Max and Marcellus, saying Woj ripped the league a new one. John Hollinger was on his show and said the exact same thing, but with perspective on how bad the Rockets were really affected by this all.

for the first time ever, it's weird to hear the Lakers fans and talking heads sympathizing and co-miserating with Rockets fans on a LA radio show

The NBA is stained now if they weren't already. I'm starting to believe more and more that the commish's office is playing the role of puppeteer and influencing roster moves and games more than we know. Obviously they can't script things, but I think they have subtle ways (besides the obvious influence in the Paul trade) to help themselves where they think they need help. Whether that be advising certain teams or turning the other way on collusion, who knows.

The Tim Donaghy situation comes to mind. He comes off as a disgruntled employee, but I imagine there is a lot of truth to what he says. I hope that one day the NBA front office is exposed similar to the way Enron was. It's tough when there is no board of directors to overthrow the CEO (ie commish), though. Absolutely no accountability.

IMO, the only way Stern does right by Morey is giving us the 1st pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

Is this all Woj cares about? Talking about people's lack of "credibility" and sounding the Whambulance?

Bill Simmons touches on the same subjects, not AS good as Woj, he has far less journalistic integrity. But he at least does it without coming across looking repressed like the league boned his girlfriend.

Still, TRUE points made in the article.

Yeah, I've been thinking about almost exactly the same thing (realistic or not) ever since I heard that Morey had retained some kind of legal counsel on this matter. The least disruptive thing to semi-correct the NBA "basketball reasons" foul-up would be to offer compensation in the form of a very high draft choice or the like. Of course, they'd owe the Lakers something, too.
