Kenny joins Larry Beil and breaks down McGrady's knee, Artest's role with the team, and the Rockets' chances this season.

He throws a jab at the team trainers at the end:

"Either they trade all of the... a couple of players, and get new blood in, or they trade the trainer, because somebody's not doing their job down there."

Isn't Keith Jones one of the most highly regarded trainers in the business? He's worked for Team USA a lot in recent years. Obviously, our guys keep missing games due to injury, but it's hard to say whether any other trainer could do better with the same guys.

Really, it's hard to blame Keith Jones for McGrady or Yao's injuries. McGrady is chronically injury-prone, while Yao's injuries have largely either been flukes that occured in games or conditions that the Rockets' staff caught early (for instance, Yao could have ended up like Bill Walton if his stress fracture hadn't been revealed so early).

The guy at the beginning is such an idiot.

"Tracy McGrady's got the bad knee... Yao Ming..."

Yao's missed 1 game this season.

I Don't think it has any thing to do with it. What i believe is Mac has been so banged up lately in his career that the cause for slow recovery is do to his conditioning during the off season either recovery after surgery and such.

Getting injured though is do to poor off season conditioning. If it was any better he would recover faster and or not get injured as much. I hear during the off season Mac is lazy and this is why he put on more and more weight each season. The more weight he has to carry the less physical he can obtain.

If he believes mentally that he is too go for pre season to a point he starts the season every year off slowly and it's like a up hill battle with him.

I'm just saying his conditioning stinks is why he gets injured so much. Touch him with a stick he misses 2-3 games. He believes that he is young still yea true, but not in a basketball world. Another thing is Les wants players to make these huge impacts in the community and this makes players weak mentally because it's like taking your focus away from becoming who your paid to be instaed of bumping elbows with society. Sure it's good for children, but as a player on the court it makes them weak.

The NBA wants all of its players to have impacts on their community that's why they have an NBA Cares program.

Hope you are not serious. They do not put as much into it as you think. I been saying it for a good while....ITS THE CURSE OF KEITH JONES!!! 96-97 is when the guy came here to Houston, along with Sir Charles Barkley!

    1. Dream started declining.
    2. Clyde started declining.
    3. Mario Elie broke his wrist somewhere around this time (could have been yr. before.
    4. Brent Price kept going out with knee injuries.
    5. Rockets signed Sedale Threatt because of injuries!!! Played well BTW! :p
    6. Antoine Carr was a joke here!
    7. Barkley's career ended in Philly.
    8. Steve Francis migranes.
    9. Then all hell broke loose: Yao, Tmac, Bonzi, Shane, etc.

They mentioned Yao injured. Yao has been one of our healthiest players this season. Missed one game right?

Also, Keith Jones is trainer. Taping ankles is what these guys do. Strength/conditioning coaches keep player healthy. Fire the strength trainer

yeah I noticed that too. But 80% of the NBA analysts base their comments on cliche or ill-informed personal impression.

It has nothing to do with Keith Jones, it has more to do with the personalities of the players. Shane's rehab went bad because he came back too early and tried to do too much while rehabbing, causing him to miss the extra games, that's who shane is, wants to work hard and play. Ron loves to play all the time, very competitive. He played all summer long and several tournaments and worked out all summer, so that's causing his problems. Tmac is fragile, which is why he gets hurt so often.

There's a lot more to a trainer than taping ankles. BOTH the trainer and strength coaches work to prevent injuries. It's probably more the trainer though, since they deal with not only prevention, but treatment of injuries, diagnosing injuries, etc. But either way, it's not their fault.

I also think a lot of the NBA outside of Houston and other fans think Tmac is actually "hurt". Kenny made sure to point out Tmac is working to get his strength back and actually rehabbing his knee, instead of playing through an injured knee.
