China’s state media is reporting of the more than 2,700 people infected with coronavirus, 461 are in a critical condition. How many of them will die? I think more than 50%. There are no drugs and the only help doctors can provide is symptomatic. These people will have to beat the virus on their own. yeah...The word bat in chinese as written, includes the character for "happy". So they think that eating bat soup brings happiness. It is an incredibly stupid superstition.
I'm confused by seeing post like this. Currently, official reports are around 3k infected You are saying experts (source please?) are estimating that there is really over 100k? Is that current infected or the estimated future total of infected? Sars was 8k infected, so 10x that would be a total of 80k infected?
Here : https://www.theguardian.com/science...rus-could-infect-100000-globally-experts-warn The expert is Prof Neil Ferguson, a public health expert at Imperial College. The reason for that is because the official estimate is only the tip of the iceberg. Only those with severe symptoms that haven't even slipped through the cracks are in the official number. The very old who got it bad. The milder cases or the asymptomatic ones can't be accounted unless we go and give a virus kit test to all the people in Wuhan.
If there are cases in Fr if there are cases in France and the us/Canada. Has there been anything reported in Shanghai or other Chinese cities?
If 100k people are currently infected, is the death rate much lower then expected as well? This would mean 2k be dead/dying soon with the current death rate of 2%? If 100k are already infected, this would be much greater then 10x sars infections (8k total). This would likely lead to millions becoming infected no? This seems like a lot of wild speculation. I'm already a very paranoid person, Houston is an international hub with huge business connections to China, I can't handle this **** lol.
A case was discovered in Africa in Ivory Coast today too. First case in Africa. If it gets active there then we have a whole other set of problems.
yes of course. Shanghai already has even a death. Hong Kong has 3-4 cases. The head of the pulmonary clinic of a major hospital in Beijing got infected as well.
If this spreads in Shanghai and people die. And it gets worse to whatever extent. It could get a ton of people rioting. I don’t know.
the 100 k is only an estimate. It could be 30.000 to 200.000. The 100 k is only the middle. This is the difference with SARS. SARS was too lethal and strong for its own good. As soon as someone got it he was too sick and got found out immediately. With this one, there can be 10 days that you have no symptoms and infect others and then you just develop a major cold if you are young with strong immune system. But your 80 year old neighbour next door that you infected will get pneumonia and die. The other major issue is mutation. These viruses pick up genes and change. SARS mutated into a harmless one and got away on its own. But you can't control the mutation. You can be lucky or unlucky and it will become more lethal.
It could get a ton of people rioting when food starts running low and people start dying from other conditions because they can't get to the hospital. These steps taken by China are extremely desperate. There is no way people can hold out until Feb 2 or longer.
The first to get it will be the immigrants and those who have flu symptoms even if it's a normal cold. What China is doing is unprecented right now. However in smaller scales in the past there have been cases where cities were quarantined and there are records of what happened. In the middle ages the bubonic plague in Italy and in modern times in Africa with Ebola. Fear panic despair, chaos. (Camus had written an masterpiece book about it, the Plague. ) In fact from inside Wuhan right now, there are reports of stigmatising already going on.
To go to the supermarket he wears two masks, gloves, a scarf and goggles and doesn't even dare to press the elevator button with his hands He knees it.
Lol the Mayor of Wuhan revealed today that 5 million residents had left Wuhan before it went into lockdown. LMAO...5 million people.
Labs can’t keep up with the test submissions (plus, the govt has every incentive to keep figures low anyway), so they’re not going to waste bandwidth on people who are dead already. Rumor mill says the deceased are tossed into crematories, which are running 24/7.

All of this reminds me of the movie "Outbreak"...Houston being the international city it is makes me a little concerned. I did read somewhere how they thought it originated from people eating Bat soup...I just hope they figure out how to stop it fast...
