Listening to the supposed "rock" stations, and I'm hearing this banjo-hillbillies song "I will wait" by Munford and sons the other day. Thought it was a local mistake so .. didn't think on it too much and fast forawrd to today, got my iPad on listening to supposedly rock music and they play this... I understand it might be catchy since they used the intro on 610 sports radio segways but ...smh, what going on here? Anyone else got hoodwinked like this while listening to the radio?
Reminds me of when Jethro Tull won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock\Heavy Metal performance in 1989 over Metallica's And Justice for All. (their last great album) I'm over all these people who don't know what real rock is. When Madonna is considered rock....the "rock genre" has lost all meaning. Thats why when asked what kind of music I prefer, I say hard rock or metal just so they know my musical taste doesnt suck.
Rock has definitely changed from what it was 30-40 years ago. No longer is it centered solely around guitars and drum sets, but around what people can do with computer effects. If you look on billboard for top rock song now you will see nothing but songs that should be classified as pop.
Mumford and Sons is a folk band. Rock music and folk music have had close ties since Dylan and Crosby Stills & Nash.
