Since the Texans are basically starting fresh, would trading JJ Watt for draft picks be a good thing?
which would be ironic, because with our offensive line, jj watt would literally kill Andrew luck. I wouldn't trade JJ for anyone.
Maybe JJ Watt will be FIRST BALLOT, Andre Johnson second year... I think JJ needs a few more awesome consistent years (maybe 3?) and he's IN like Jeremy Lin. (Don't kill me, LOHs, 'tis a joke! ). WHO ANSWERED YES?!?!?
H377 2 Da Naw I wouldn't trade J.J. This is a passing league _ and if you don't have a GREAT QB (which are far and few between) you had better have a GREAT pass rush and that's the next best thing. As much as we talk about young QBs like Wilson and Kapernick, San Francisco and Seattle win games by running the ball and playing great defense. Russell and Kapernick are two young very good QB's _ but they're not setting the world on fire with their numbers. Pretty much game managing mobile QBs at this point.
Watt for Rams #2 pick, #13, #44 pick? HIGHLY doubt the Rams would do that, yet probably the only way the Texans entertain it. Texans would then have #1, #2, #13, #33 and #44 pick... but no JJ Watt... and also would still have Rick Smith making the picks... which is hit or miss.
I think so he spends more time selling ice cream and trucks than getting sacks. Ship him away for a 5th rounder before he loses all his value.
Given his upcoming contract I would certainly consider it, but the offer would have to be titanic. He's the best defensive player in football, and frankly one of the most impactful ever, so he won't come cheap.
We would get Clowney with the #2 pick who would replace Watt, plus we would have a lot of value out of it with a couple more picks. Clowney probably won't ever be as good as Watt, but he could be close. Crazy idea, but I'd probably do it. We'd save so much salary and build a pretty talented team with those picks. Of course Watt is such a fan favorite and brings other things to the table that would make Rick Smith say no, but it definitely would be tempting. Neither side probably offers it.
No Watt is a high character, high motor, dedicated, transcendent player at an impact position. You thank your lucky stars you have this guy and do the work to find the other pieces.
For Manning, Brady, or Rogers…otherwise, no. And quick, because Manning and Brady are getting long in the tooth. The Discount Double Check guy is still relatively young isn't he?
