Who in their right mind would say no to this??

You can play Tucker at the 3. He’d be doing 100% the same stuff.

The Pacers? It doesn’t matter who here would want to do this, y’all can’t actually believe the Pacers would trade Sabonis for freaking Danuel House and a protected 1st round pick.

i disagree. we need size and scoring upfront more than we need another wing..... a lot more. plus he is young and cheap. covington is possibly damaged goods

Sounds like a random trade idea. Wonder if there is a thread for it?

Do you know of one @Os Trigonum

All day every day, but Indiana wouldn't do it.

lmao you guys are really overrating Sabonis. Please do your research before you flaunt his 3P% too. He had 0.5 attempts a game last year. The year he had 3 attempts, he only shot 32% from 3. So what, are you trading the potential of House just for Sabonis to become a backup big? Rockets fans rarely think this through and instead salivate over acquiring any semi-popular name.

Covington is 6'9 with 7'1 wingspan, who can start at either 3 or 4. RoCo is elite defender (1st team All Defense 2018) and much better 3 point shooter (more attempts, more makes) than Sabonis.

Sabonis is a 5 in Rockets offense, not a 4. Worse, he is poor post defender (6'10 with 6'10 wingspan) and an even WORSE perimeter defender.

And I just now remembered why I don't respond to you.

Exactly... The only way we get out hands of that type of talent is including EG

    I think a trade like

    EG/Tucker/Pick for Sabonis/Brogdan/

We tend to way over rate over value our players on this board

    Capela 6-11/Chandler
    Sabonis 6-11
    House/Thabo
    Harden/Brogdan
    Westbrook/Rivers

This gives us a lot more balance

Come on man, they might do that trade for Sabonis alone but no chance in hell they’re adding Brogdan.

They would laugh Morey off the phone with that proposal.

Domantas is developing into an Allstar level talent. Problem is he's better fit at center but his shot blocking is lacking. But at least he won't get punked like Capela does.

    Exactly.

Sometimes I wonder if guys even watch the players they lust after in this forum or are familiar with this Rockets team they supposedly follow.

At best Sabonis would likely make a pretty good backup for Capela, but that's just not a priority need for the Rockets right now.
In a vacuum House may not match Sabonis' talent level right now but for this team he fills a better role and is easily a better fit.
Not to mention his contract compared to what Sabonis is said to be looking for.

And for those arguing Sabonis would help the team match up with other teams, that has never been the Rockets' approach during the D'Antoni era.
The Rockets aim is to do what they do, and do it relentlessly, until they force opponents to try to match up with them. That philosophy is not likely to change now and certainly not for a guy like Sabonis.

So Sabonis can play a 3-4? He can run the wing like a forward is required to do in D’Antoni’s system?

He is a 5 here. Any deal likely requires us moving Capela out too.

Why would you need him to play the 3?

Because the 3 and the 4 are interchangeable in our system. They run the wings while the Center fills the pipe. D’Antoni has said countless times that he views positions as guards, forwards and centers, not the old fashioned SF and PF of the good old days.

The better question is: Would you swap Capela for Sabonis to be the starting C?
