For me, his dirty play alone is a big NO, regardless of his bball play.

Maybe being an annoying idiot is a kind of mental illness. You just don't understand mental illness. Stop being judgmental. Be honest and transparent.

I never wanted Bynum. He's a headcase AND injury prone. When he's healthy, his intensity is spotty.

When you ask whether we should take a big "risk" on Andrew Bynum, is "risk" a euphemism for ****?

    If so, then, yes.

Actually, yes, Bynum is that much better than Asik. But, he's injury prone and therefore not worth the risk. Most folks would be all over this if he didn't have knee problems but he'd also never be on the market if that was the case. Hell, we aren't even sure he's on the market now.

Rather spend money on a legit PF and a true 6th man.

He might be no better than a rosemary, zz, or red coleus plant. Although don't count out the value of a bynum chia in a shady south-facing window.

What? Oh, on a basketball court. Oh hell no. Sorry, I thought we were talking about plants.

He'd love it here in Houston. Can shoot 3s to his heart's content.

Before this season, I'd have agreed with you. But given Asik's growth on offense, I don't think it's such a slam-dunk answer. Now, the answer depends totally on who we can use that money on.

What is there for CH to elaborate?

    Bynum:
-would prefer to sign for max money
-would see signing for 12M a year as a "discount"
    -has serious knee injury
-is a bit of a nutcase
-is the guy Philly just traded AI for

    Asik:
-is signed for 8M a year
    -has no serious injury
    -is not a nutcase
    -is already on the roster

LOL I don't care if Bynum is better than Asik, Asik's cheaper, healthier and already on the squad. More importantly, Asik is already good AS IS, with Bynum you have to attach Yao Ming IF (if He's healthy) and you have to attach Tmac's IF (If he's locked on and not spazzing out).

This is a horrible idea, and IMHO a horrible thread. Again, even if we were willing to take a chance on him, why would Phlly let him walk when they just traded AI for him?

LOL what do you base this on? If your Max PF is Chris Bosh, and your 8M pf is Boozer, who would win?

    Asik+Bosh?

    or

    Bynum+Boozer?

+you need to add the fact that Bynum's both injury prone and a fruitcake.

I wouldn't even take dwight howard for Asik let alone bynum.... keep this roster together and build chemistry and experience of playing together....many cases proves this is a more valid road to winning titles than buying players composing Frankenstein teams which rarely play good and win titles

I want his hair here. That thing could have a reality show for itself.

Yes, as long as he agrees to install a robotic knee.

Really? You wouldn't take DH12 over Asik?

First of all, you're exaggerating. Bynum has played in over 71% of his career NBA games since entering the rotation. Kevin Martin has played in 66% of his career games since entering the rotation. Roy and Oden are done. Baseless comparisons there.

71% is still not good, but if he returns this season and plays at the 22-12 rate he's feasibly capable of (as the #1 option), it's definitely worth it.

And anyone saying he's not that big of an upgrade from Asik knows nothing about basketball. We'd be getting the best post-threat in the NBA, and a near-perfect compliment to Harden to create an inside-outside duo.
