    Kyrie Irving:

    20.9 PPG, 5.3 APG, 3.3 RPG, 23.22 PER
#23 in PER, #20 in PPG, #22 in APG, #12 in SPG
Best record in the league (16-2) without Gordon Hayward, 16 game winning streak

    James Harden:

    31.6 PPG, 9.9 APG, 4.8 RPG, 30.41 PER
#2 in PER, #1 in PPG, #1 in APG, #11 in SPG
Best record in the West (13-4) without CP3 (he's only played in 3 games this year)

Irving's stats will rise, but Harden's aren't falling much.

Rockets might mess around and win MORE in a tougher conference.

    Harden still easy MVP front-runner.

Kyrie's stats are down across the board this year. He is doing nothing spectacular compared to previous campaigns. Obviously there is going to be some love because of a 16 game winning streak on a new team, but it is not a sustainable team win %. In three months, no one is going to remember this streak, because narratives change significantly over the course of the season. Had this streak occurred down the stretch to secure the Celtics the best record in the league going into the playoffs, then I would say he'd have a much stronger case. But for now it is much too early for a blip on the radar to hold so much significant weight in this race.

Kyrie is not an MVP caliber player, his team is playing well but he doesn't belong in the conversation. He's not even a top 10 player.

Kyrie's otherworldly clutch-time production just might be this year's "averaging a triple double".

I don't expect it will be enough to make him the MVP favorite, but it will be kind of funny watching this forum go apeshit if that's how it goes down.

Kyrie will win if the Celtics have a better record than us at the end of the season.

so the new narrative this time around will be that harden's gaudy stats come in blowouts and therefore don't count when it matters like kyrie's.

    2015: harden don't play D tho
    2017: triple dub
2018: D don't matter 'n stats don't matta either. do it in the OT or don't do it at all

The media will find any "plausible excuse" to not vote Harden.

Last year it was 1.9 rpg.

Naturally they will spin some selective statistical narrative that it is Boston's time, time for someone in the East to win it and how they have wrestled the Eastern crown from Lebron, therefore Kyrie is MVP.

47 is impressive no matter who you play. Which is why I thought hardens 48 was impressive. But the media wasn' impressed because it was in a blowout against the sun's. So I have no choice but to discredit juries 47 against a mavericks team who has the worse record in the NBA. I hear rots fans saying well we need to beat boston!!!! Really we beat Westbrook 3 out of 4 times last year even once with 2 weeks left in the season! It' sad that harden leads the league in ppg and apg and total points scored and total assist and were saying we need to beat boston??? I' convinced even if we end up with the best record in the league that they will find a way to make his more impressive

CP3 was out 15/17 games.. all year long. haha
Those clowns at espn & tnt will say and do stupid things over & over. Donkey a** kisser barkley will say dumb things to keep his job.
Kyrie is doing great but Harden is doing it in a much tougher conference while breaking records here & there.

The problem for players like Harden, Durant, Lebron is that they're so good EVERY DAMN YEAR that no one cares anymore. The media outlets of the world need fresh storylines every year, which means that those consistently dominant players will always get overlooked when the popularity contests happen.

In 2015, the headline news was the emergence of the Warriors, hence Curry takes it.
In 2016, it was the OMGBBQ Westbrook triple double.
In 2017, it'll probably be something else - Celtics? Greek Freak? Who knows...
