He's still not listed in 51-100. Looks like they have to put him in Top 50....maybe even above Rubio ....lulz

Gotta admit, no way would I have thought ESPN would put Bev in Top 50. 50 spots better than Ariza?? Sumpin's fishy.

What a dilemma for ESPN. Give LA love by ranking Bev Top 50 (to make them feel better about Morey fleecing them), but at the risk of admitting Harden made him much better last year....making him the player with the biggest jump in rankings from last year.

    by comparison,
    • Andre Roberson jumped 73 spots from 158 to 85 and
    • Robert Covington jumps an eye-popping 107 spots from 162 to 55.
    • Bev was sandwiched between them at 160. So, Bev would surpass Cov's 107 jump.
    • ESPN claims Roberson's jump was due to making 2nd Team All-Defense.
    • ESPN also claims Covington deserves the jump for being an under the radar defender due to advanced stats.
      • You can make a case that no truly impact player flies under the radar more than Covington. Though he was named on just nine of 99 media ballot for All-Defense consideration, Covington led all non-bigs in Defensive Real Plus-Minus last season

Here's current rankings courtesy of JR

Makes sense to come extent. There is general belief by the national media that This will be Bev's breakout year and should start for the Clips.

He was first team all-defense so it shouldn't be a surprise.

Waiving Robert Covington is one of the worst mistakes of Morey's career. He is the proto-typical 3/4 wing in the NBA. He is a monster defender and excellent shooter - literally perfect for harden ball. If we wanted to have any hope against GSW we need players like convington. Players like Tucker, Mbah A moute simply arent going to cut

Especially with ariza aging (not to mention how bad his 3% is becoming), losing out on covington is going to cost the rockets dearly.

When it comes to heart, Beverley would be number one on the list.

Still haven't completely come to terms with the fact that he won't be on the team next year. It's weird saying this but I think CP3 has bigger shoes to fill than most people think. Hopefully he can tap into the fountain of youth but I still think Beverley's energy on the court is something that will be hard to replace and while CP3 is a future HOF he's gotten older and I think the Rockets are still missing that high energy guy who can inspire the team when shots aren't falling.

don't player rankings come AFTER the player performs? or we using pre-season college football ranking style now?

    ALL NBA Defense 1st Team.

Why would it be surprising if he is in top 50?

We know he can heavily influence the outcome of a game.

    We have seen it.

This is what they want. They know exactly what will happen when they make Melo free fall. They tried it last year already.

Either way I think their list so far is pretty humorous.

    He's exactly number 50 hahaha

These ratings are just to get people to talk about it, generate clicks and poop. They're not serious about it.
